If they’re original words rather than a title, you could use a hyphen?
So the title is The Dark Arches, and the unrelated villain names are Hamek and Nivek
I know I said I probably won’t enter and I’ll stick by that but depending on what the guidelines and rules are I might work on something for myself
When I entered it wasn’t through any real belief I could win, it was just a nice exercise to stretch the muscles. I have to write to eat anyway but never ever Doctor Who so I liked the parameters of the competition as well as dipping my toe in the Doctor Who toybox.
I actually found it very useful. It was both recreational and taxing.
So I would say do it for yourself anyway and then, if you’ve done it… Why not enter as well if it’s before the deadline? You’ll have nothing to lose.
Makes sense! I doubt I’ll finish, but if I do then yeah I’ll probably enter for fun
I only heard about this last year when I definitely didn’t have time to come up with and write anything. I would like to try this year, but it really depends on if I find the theme inspiring and if the Doctor options are ones I think I can work with. I’m more of a Torchwood writer, really.
I think I’m gonna enter next competition if my ADHD allows it
I’ve known about it since my dad told me about it in 2020, but I’ve been in education this entire time and each year it obviously coincides with exam season
Given that they’ll never go any further than my own folder I’ll post my entries over the years here if I can find them tomorrow.
From memory, my entries were;
The Wise Little Prisoner [Seventh Doctor]
The Jackanapes in Question [Third Doctor]
Better to Travel Hopeful [Seventh Doctor]
Crystal Visions [Eleventh Doctor]
Created a new thread for this in case people wanted to share theirs as well.
I’ve entered a couple of times, and also tried other BF competitions. I’ve never felt all that happy with what I’ve submitted, although I think I hit the brief in each case. My writing background is in factual stuff and I think I have to admit that I’m just not all that good at fiction. I’ll try again, if I can muster the energy and a reasonable idea before the deadline. I might not quite get there this year, though. I wish I’d had the drive and self belief to work in this area when I was younger.
