I don’t think so. @shauny will look into it when he has the time
Hmmm, strange bug, fixed it now! @MrColdStream @AlfieSigma (no you didn’t do anything wrong @snakesontoast!)
Oh yeah, I noticed this last night but it was really late and I was tired so just hoped someone else would notice…
Here’s a question: Should Fire and Ice from UNIT: Nemesis be tagged with ’Companion Introduction’? It was the first release to feature Naomi, but it wasn’t her actual introduction as a companion: that’s Storm of the Sea Devils. The Doctor doesn’t even appear in Fire and Ice.
(And no, I’m not just saying this because I’m eyeing up the It’s Bigger on the Inside badge… )
Good question. I’d say yes, because The Runaway Bride is tagged as a “Companion Introduction” for Donna, even though she isn’t technically a proper companion until Series 4.
Absolutely true, but The Runaway Bride is the story where Donna meets the Doctor and her first chronological appearance. In Fire and Ice Naomi has already travelled with the Doctor for three boxsets!
That’s also true. It’s a bit of a complex case. Maybe we need to put it to a vote? Unless someone wiser than us can tell us what to do?
Not having heard any of Naomi’s stories (or much about her as a character, for that matter, she’s just sort of there! I’m not sure I’ve even seen an interview with the actress) I can’t really help.
You’re welcome for this pointless post.
I’ve listened to her Fourth Doctor run (it was fine, nothing terrible but nothing truly outstanding) and her first Seventh Doctor set. She’s just kinda there for me. She’s not bad, but she doesn’t stand out terribly much.
Mel’s Companion Introduction is logged as Business Unusual instead of Terror of the Vervoids. I think that’s precedent for Storm of the Sea Devils being Naomi’s – first chronological appearance from the companion’s perspective.
I’d agree. I like Namoi well enough when I’m listening to her and I think Eleanor Crooks puts in a good performance, but I don’t tend to remember her much or think about her often.
Don’t know where else to put this but I noticed that Jac isn’t tagged as a character in the Zygon Invasion.
Noted. Submitted the edit
I think Antarctic (without the a) and Antartic (spelling mistake) can both be folded into Antarctica.
Antarctopolis is a city that covers the entirety of Antarctica with only one appearance, so it can also probably be rolled in.
People like to have single-use locations because it looks nice on the Story page, so it doesn’t really matter if they are only used once (although that bugs me lol)
A big task in the future is to go through all the locations, de-dupe, and also put everything in the right hierarchy.
I might like to be involved in that – it sounds quite fun to me! But I am not very good at coding, so who knows.
I really like the Location tag and I think the hierarchy system is great.
I’ve noticed another instance of this. The End of the Line, a story where Constance is already travelling with the Doctor, is tagged as her introduction because it was released before Criss-Cross, the story where she meets the Doctor for the first time and they begin travelling.
How should we deal with this timey-wimeyness? I think it makes sense to tag the story where the companion first meets the Doctor from their perspective but it’s also reasonable to go for their first appearance from our perspective.
Very timey-wimey! Appropriate for Who
I would suggest it ought to be introduction from the companion’s POV because that’s what makes sense to me but I can see a case for both sides
