Oh that’s a good read that one. I’ve had it for years! There’s a really interesting piece on The Deadly Assassin.

Yeah it looks really interesting :slightly_smiling_face:
Bought used with postage for £5, but I can tell it has never been read

That book sounds fascinating, and I’m curious what the “controversial[…] offensive, rude, and scandalous” material is. From what I’ve seen, the general DW fandom isn’t that extreme in its thought processes compared to other franchises’ fans, so I’m interested to know what these fanzines actually include. I’ll have to see if I can find this anywhere.

Oh, you’d be surprised. If the EDAs are licensed material, just imagine what fans couldn’t get published…

(I’ll give you a hint: it’s smut.)

I would like to see this supposed smut, again, for research purposes. The Star Trek and Star Wars fandom liking smut? Expected. The Classic Who fandom liking smut? Curioser and curiouser.

Here you go.

(And this likely doesn’t include Eighth Doctor fics. People love doing things to the Eighth Doctor.)

I figured that would be AO3 haha. I make up most of the Six/Peri fics on that site. Finding CW fans in the wild who are into smut, though, is pretty difficult in my experience.

I also see that Two/Jamie has 49 E-rated fics while Six/Peri has 50. I can’t let them win! :^p

I always default to AO3 when looking for stats. Now, if you wanted some info on smut in the Star Trek fandom, I’d be able to pull out my zines and my bookmarks of archived sites and you’d be in for a real infodump. Unfortunately I haven’t looked that deep into Doctor Who fandom yet. There’s so much canon, who has the time!

We got more goodies! I got Static on Monday and it was brand new with the wrapping and stuff. And today I got Solitaire and Three’s a Crowd! Solitaire had a little damage in the front but other parts look really good and Three’s a Crowd just looks like new really- I’m honestly surprised that Three’s a Crowd (ordered on Sept 23) arrived earlier than The Flames of Cadiz (ordered Sept 16).

I will now also update my rarity post with Solitaire!

Static is :+1:. If Constance’s introductory story doesn’t make you like her (which it didn’t for me on first listen), Static has a good chance of turning that around.

That’s right, you heard it here first: Jane McDonald will be the Sixteenth Doctor.

I really want to read the Cutaway Comics for Paradise Towers (mainly for the Happiness Patrol backups after watching The Collection version of it)!

let us know how good they are!

I have a mixed reaction to the comics. I really like the characters, and the art is great, but the storyline (particularly the big twist in issue 3) is very “been there, done that.”

The audio dramas on the other hand were really enjoyable. The audio quality isn’t always the best, but at worst it’s mediocre (the same, unfortunately, cannot be said of the interviews on the DVDs accompanying the comics). The writing is great and totally in line with the original story, since Stephen Wyatt wrote them himself, and to my surprise the acting is excellent.

Where did you find The Collection s8 and The Abominable Snowmen?!

The collection season 8 was from eBay for £30. I already had the standard release. The abominable snowmen was from Amazon actually and it was £24.99.

Is The Abominable Snowmen hard to get? It only came out recently!

I don’t think so? I’m finding it harder to get Power of the Daleks’ steelbook (the only one I don’t have sealed)

It was just the one I spotted. The Evil of the Daleks, The Underwater Menace, and The Celestial Toymaker (and The Daleks in Colour) are the only ones still in print, though I did recently snap up The Macra Terror off Scamazon.

I think Spearhead is the rarest of the old series steels, followed by The Power of the Daleks and Shada. (The new series ones all go for truly crazy money, except the 50th anniversary one, which just goes for regular a lot of money.)
