Naming of the three major eras

But the previous one is the one with Peter Capaldi

When I was in Oz, I was delighted to come across a product called ā€œMarmite", although it was in quite different packaging. I thought that finally they must be making it down there. However, despite being a bit salty, that was all it had in common with UK Marmite. It made Vegemite taste like Ambrosia!

Inspired by this, we could name the eras based on the general design of the logos.

I’ll never be able to unsee that :joy:

Ugh I had a conversation with someone on Mastodon where I tried to explain that the Doctor Who logo came decades before Paw Patrol but either they were trolling or they just didn’t understand how time works…

Yup, seeing someone claim that Doctor Who copied Paw Patrol always rubbed me the wrong way because even I know that Doctor Who came decades before Paw Patrol. Granted, I don’t have children and have never watched Paw Patrol, so I wasn’t even aware of it before I saw the comments online, but still.

If everyone’s going to be coming up with silly era names…

Big Finish/Comics/Comic Relief: Big Ball of Timey Wimey era

1-4: Classic Doctor Who era
5-7: Classic Doctor era

Peter Cushing: Classic Doctor Who movie era
8: Canon-ish Movie era

9: Revival Doctor Who era
10-12: Revival Doctor era
13: Doctor & Fam era
14: Revived Revival Doctor era
15: Modern Doctor era

(Probably not as clever as I intended, but I typed it up, so I’m posting it…)

1-8: The 0 David Tennants Era
9-13: The 2 David Tennants Era
14+: The 1 David Tennant Era

This of course means that if they ever reset the numbering again they will need to have at least 3 David Tennants in the next era

Not really sure that’s the right David Tennant count.

It’s debatable whether 9’s era has 1 or 0, since the only David Tennant there was the regeneration scene. 10’s era started with 1, but had ~1.5 for a bit, then 2 by the end. Then he regenerated, so there’d only be 1 left for 11-13. When 13 regenerated, that brought us back up to 2 for 14, and there are still 2 in 15.

All in all, the number of Tennants is pretty complicated, and I’m not even sure I didn’t miss anything…

I’m just counting it as 9-13 era has 10 and Metacrisis, 14+ era has 14

14+ would still presumably have Metacrisis, though, unless something happened to him I’m not aware of.

(Which, given Big Finish, is entirely possible.)

Yeah he presumably still exists but he hasn’t appeared on the show in the era so he doesn’t count towards it

I don’t know. Thinking about it leaves me all curfuzzled. :adipose:

Wonder if we could get a special with 10, the Meta-Crisis Doctor, 14, and the Post Bi-Regeneration Tennant Doctor?

(Bonus points if we also get Thing!Doctor…)

Wait, what?

Was someone claiming the current Doctor Who logo is ripping off the Paw Patrol one?

That’s mad!

When I saw The Quin Dilemma artwork, I did think wow they could do this with Tennants as well  that would be fun.

I see it so often on social media it’s become a bit of a meme now… :face_with_diagonal_mouth:

If we keep going at this rate, they’ll be able to make a The Five Tennant Doctors special episode a few years down the line.
