Jodie Whittaker and Mandip Gill return to Doctor Who in new Thirteenth Doctor adventures

I personally hope they do less multi-doctor stories, but I would love to see 8 + 13 at some point!

The First and Thirteenth Doctors meeting would be great too.

Well they already did…

So pleased I managed to avoid spoilers for “Power of the Doctor”. I was completely unaware about the involvement of past Doctors until it aired. So wonderful (and different). A real delight!

I remember genuinely screaming when McGann appeared :sparkling_heart:

Me too! I think I leapt of my chair to the great delight of my friends :joy:

“[…]There’s always one, has to be different. […] I can wear what I like […]”
That’s so brilliantly the Doctor.

“I don’t do robes” :joy:

And the way McCoy rolls his eyes as a response to that is pitch perfect.
Plus the way McCoy rolls the Rs in “regeneration” and the way Colin Baker says “our predicament!”, just perfect deliveries.
And David Bradley’s best outing as the Doctor on the main show.

Chef’s kiss to that whole scene!

Especially so for an actor who made no secret of his dislike for the appearance he was initially given onscreen. McGann has done so much for DW, he’s more than earned the right to be portrayed in a manner for which he is more comfortable.

This. Just this. So perfect.

I know Chibnall has his critics but, quite honestly, he produced (and wrote) some outstanding TV in his tenure. It’s nice to see that recognised here, on TARDIS Guide.

And in “Power of the Doctor” one of the best and most original uses of the multi-Doctor story trope that I’ve seen so far. Simply sublime!

I kept thinking it would just be a quick one off cameo, but they kept coming back. So unexpected and so well done!

Chris Chibnall wrote the First Doctor so much better and with more respect than Moffat. For all Steven Moffat’s excellence as a writer, I felt he really dropped the ball with the way he wrote the First. A duff note (and a surprisingly sour taste) in “Twice upon a Time” which, aside from that, I really enjoyed.

Same. It was a complete joy!

For me the Chibnall/Whittaker era is one of the best in all of Who.

How great it is to come here and see all this positivity for all eras of the show. Chris (I met him, you know) Chibnall has got a lot of stick for his time on Doctor Who, but I enjoyed a great deal of it, feeling it improved greatly as it went along - and it started well.

I hope Big Finish capture his style of story-telling for these audios.

True, but I mean as in whilst they were the Doctor rather than as a Guardian, like with the post I was replying to about 8 (who also appeared in that scene).

You met Chibnall? Well…I met Jodie :sunglasses:

:astonished:

My meeting was at the Cardiff exhibition on one of its final days. The lady taking our tickets was very excited. “We’ve got Christian Bale here, we’ve got Christian Bale,” I thought she said. I wondered why Batman would be at a Doctor Who exhibition. Anyway, she was of course saying “We’ve got Chris Chibnall.”

He was extremely polite and approachable. I just wished him the best of luck with the show (this was before he’d started work on it) and scampered off.

How was Jodie?

It wasn’t at a Doctor Who event/convention. It was at the 6 Music Fesival in Camden so this was in March 2020. I spotted her coming in as my friend & I were having a drink. I had to nervously say hello & ask for a pic. She was lovely but I was totally star struck tbh.

I would have been starstruck too!

Whilst we’re comparing Who meets and connections, I have a weird one; my grandfather was electrician both to Jon Pertwee (yes, really! ) and Jeremy Brett (of Sherlock Holmes fame).
