Hello, everyone! My name is Xisco and I go by cane-of-doom here and elsewhere. I’m from Spain (where I’m proud to say we have a mostly really nice and dedicated network of fans, even if it might not be the biggest overseas fandom).
I first watched Doctor Who probably in 2007 or 2008 but I became a full-fledged fan in 2009, right around when Waters of Mars had just been released, so even if my first was the Tennant years, the era I grew up with and my formative years as a fan were Matt’s. That said, both Capaldi and Jodie have vastly surpassed them as my favourite Doctors (with McGann as a close second/third).
I’m a huge sucker for Gallifrey stories and lore, so I’d have to say that my favourite stories are Hell Bent and The Timeless Children. I was an avid listener of Big Finish audios for a while (I’d say mainly 2013-2020) but I haven’t been listening to much as of late, but hopefully I can make some time to dip my toes back in that pool. Another pool I want to really get myself into is the deeper EU, things like Faction Paradox and some other really interesting spinoffs of the Wilderness Years I have been reading about (on tumblr and the wiki) for years, but never really tried for myself because, honestly, it feels a little overwhelming.
So, yeah, that’s me as a Doctor Who fan. I’ve been a member of TARDISguide since the very beginning and so happy it’s doing so well. Hopefully from now on I become a little more involved with it and the forum (I fell out of love with GB a couple of years ago, but the community seems much nicer here from what I’ve seen).
ETA: In case anyone’s wondering, my pfp is an edit of the 4th Doctor with the head of Juan Y Medio, a very famous presenter on Andalusian regional television. I don’t remeber what the joke was or what lead me to make it, but I think it’s really funny hahaha.
I have! Well, I got stuck in the alternate universes arc back in 2018 and haven’t continued since, so I might have to go back to Square One (see what I did there?) at some point. Hopefully I can catch up with the Gallifrey relisten that’s going on. I really want to listen to the Time War era Gallifrey audios, but I’m completist hahaha
