I’m ramblingwatcher or Ali!
I’m just here because i love Doctor Who! Classic & NuWho. I’m a fan of analysing and breaking down Doctor Who, especially through a psychological lens. My other main hobby is writing poetry and fan fiction for many fandoms. I’ve been a Doctor Who fan for most of my life, though i can’t claim to be a forever fan as i couldn’t get my hands on it till it was on streaming when i was in middle school (silly American here). Anyway, I love this site and love The Doctor

What Maketh a "Monster"?

We’re all used to the term “Doctor Who Monster”, used to describe pretty much any living thing that is neither human nor a part of normal Earth flora/fauna. It’s a shorthand used by the general public and the media to identify what is typically the threat of the week in a Doctor Who story. The concept of ‘monsters’ has long fascinated me (hence this thread). This also ties in nicely with the Fifteenth Doctor’s assertion that “There’s no such thing as monsters.
