And now, it’s time once again to look at five screenshots and guess where they are from! This will not include anything from new/modern Doctor Who.
If you don’t have it by five, you might start looking through the bonuses before looking at the answer, and, of course, the bonuses are always fun to look through anyways.
I’ll actually be rather surprised if anyone gets it in one. It’s a screenshot of the face of the driver of the car Turlough crashes into, which you see very briefly…
I pretty much was trying to go from hardest to easiest, as I often do. That is a pretty distinctive console design. I was thinking about putting in Bonus 7, but then, several of the bonuses would have been good alternates.
Oh no! It’s my big weakness, the Fifth Doctor era! I gave up halfway through the Bonus pics and didn’t get it!
I actually made my first guess before I even started. I thought: “Hmm, what day is it today? Perhaps @SweetAIBelle is in a celebratory mood! It’s An Unearthly Child!”
I thought about “An Unearthly Child”, (and even took some screenshots) but I felt that it’d be a bit predictable, and most of the shots would be a dead giveaway.
A lot of the early bonus pictures were contenders for being in the main 5 screenshots. I feel like Bonus 9 or so is where it starts getting obvious.
I do like the Black Guardian, and the idea of a companion that’s trying to kill the Doctor and doesn’t really want to. Having the main companions think someone else was the Doctor, regenerated was a great idea, too.
Kind of wish this story had Ian in it, though I love the Brig.
Four for me. Hmmm. Should have got it on three (that control panel decor is pretty distinctive) but hey ho! Funny story. Some lovely ideas but lacks a sense of urgency for me.
I’ve been learning how to make it challenging as I go. I try not to show the Doctor or companions unless it’s the 4th or 5th shot, for example, and even generally try not to get too recognisable shots of characters unless they are barely in it (like 1).
Body parts are good, though, like hands. Then you have people guessing based on what clothing they can see. I like shots of the background without anyone in it, too, and sometimes I’m literally taking a screenshot seconds before someone walks in or after they walk out.
The TARDIS console was a fun one, too, as while it doesn’t tell you much, technically, if you know your consoles, it’d narrow down what era we are in. I also rather like taking shots of displays and panels and such. They can be memorable, and it’s rather fun to see the designs that people came up with for the episodes.
The most fun ones are when you are showing something that’s clearly pretty unique to the episode, but not likely for people to remember…
