Celestial Intervention is great but god is it an uncomfortable listen in the current climate of how anti-immigration and anti-refugee the UK has been for the past 15 years

I can’t stop reeling from this, that story is NOT okay!!!

I love that Brax is just what would happen if 7 went even further and had NO morals left and focused on self preservation above all else. He’s so cruel here and it’s not pragmatic: it’s just cruel. And it’s amazing!! He’s always been manipulative and scheming but it’s always been off screen and it’s always worked the way he’s wanted, so getting to see it all happen in front of us AND see it fail… It’s peak but AAAAAAHHHH

Brax is soooo… ourghhhh yeah SO is such an episode. And if you love suffering… more to come

Now you’re ready for the Ace story in the Gallifrey Short Trips collection from last year.

Should I skip ahead and do that? Cause my plan for the short story collection was to just do it all together after I caught up

You can do it as you want. I did them in their chronological place, which worked well for me, but doing them all after can give you just as much of a gut punch. I don’t think there’s a right way

You’ll be waiting for War Room 3 for the next 30000 years with the rest of us soon enough :old_woman:

I genuinely had to take a short break from time war 1 after this story. I was emotionally wrecked :sob::sob::sob:

Can’t chat about it rn because I am actively moving out of my dorm, but I listened to the first two episodes and I needed to pop in and say I love Leela SO much. I haven’t watched a lot of classic who, so while I know who she is and her backstory, I hadn’t really seen much of her. She’s amazing.

She is the BEST <3333333

Ok I just finished The Inquiry, and I have a few thoughts (brief ones because it is very late). I continue to love Leela. I thought the story was really fun too! I didn’t expect to like Braxiatel as much as I did. Narvin intrigues me, especially because, from what I’ve seen online, he and Romana become allies later on. Also, I had to rewind and make sure I understood something because it caught me totally off guard. Romana and Brax killed like a hundred million people with absolutely no hesitation. Like, I know they technically already died in the “correct” timeline, but it still felt nuts! Especially since Romana made a big deal about helping people on Gryben! I’ll try to listen to A Blind Eye tomorrow.

Yes. You will fall into the Narvin lover trap eventually, it is inevitable!

Time Lord hypocrisy <333 it’s one of the best things about this series, when the Time Lords are being all high and mighty and doing dodgy stuff behind the scenes

When is Gallifrey coming back to me!!! when!!!

I went into The Devil You Know with too high expectations :sob::sob::sob: Knowing it had my favourite Master in it, and him interacting with Leela had me super excited.

And don’t get me wrong! It’s still great! I love how smaller scale it was and the interactions we did get between Leela and The War Master were grand! But just something about it didn’t wow me as much as I wanted even if I did enjoy it a lot. And I don’t even know why it didn’t hit me as hard as I hoped it would. Though I didn’t see that ending coming; I knew the Master would win and betray her because he always does but like??? WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO LEELA AAAA

Solid 4*, that probably would be higher if I went in with lower expectations and if it didn’t follow actual devastating peak. What a world we live in where Brax does more evil things in a boxset than The Master does lol

DYK is like such a complicated audio for me. I both love it and hate it. I love it more now that we have War Room that actually dares to follow the question ‘what does it mean that Leela is neither truly Sevateem or Gallifreyan?’ through to a more interesting place - that was always the thing that frustrated me about DYK. It wants to say look, Leela isn’t the Warrior she wants to be, she’s becoming as Time Lord s the rest of them but it kind of shies away from that at the end. Yeah

And oh boy Brax can be a horrid horrid guy, the Master has nothing on some of Brax’s schemes

but I do agree, I think the Master was slightly underutilised here and I think they could have gone harder on the almost parallel between him and Leela that they’re both willing to use action and twist words to get what they want

I wasn’t able to place why it didn’t land for me as well as I wanted, and you were able to do that for me, thank you! That’s exactly it; The Master wasn’t really as cruel as he usually is and as you said it’s exploring interesting ground with Leela but not quite enough.

I still liked it a lot but I hold TWM in such high regard so it’s hard for me when it doesn’t go as far as it could
