Gallifrey - The Audio Series

One thing I don’t get tho is why he never let anyone know Pandora was in Darkel’s mind and insist she leave Gallifrey like, she quite literally has a ticking time bomb in her that could destroy all of Gallifrey but just lets he continue her political manoeuvring. Yeah it made for a great twist and a satisfying defeat of Darkel but if you stop and think about it, it really doesn’t make much sense

If you want ‘plot points that actually make sense under scrutiny’ Gallifrey is NOT the series for you lmao

Yeah fair. That goes for dr who in general so I should rly keep my expectations low lol

Wait until you get to the whole dogma virus ‘resolution’ in s6 :skull: maybe one day that will make any sense to me at all

Oh man, I’ll keep that in mind lol. Just finished 5.02 Evolution and that sure was. An Episode (in terms of handwavey technobabble bs)

Also aaaaahhhhh Narvin ‘spying’ on Leela primarily just to check that she’s doing okay asdfjndbd

Ah, series 5… I think the general consensus is that it’s ‘meh’ but I have a fondness for it. It’s trying to say something and it does it in a messy and poorly done way, but it also is Interesting and gives Leela the most to do in ages and is SO close to being a really interesting character study on our ot3 and it somehow falls totally flat on its face and fails and succeeds all at the same time. It wants to tell a ‘slavery is bad and so is capitalism and authoritarianism’ story and yet manages to get confused. And then it’s over. Three very fascinating episodes, to me

Honestly I’m liking it more than s3-4 overall as it has a more cohesive storyline, plus I like the clever use of Commentator Matthias to basically do a Previously On etc

Yes agree, I think people are hard on s5-6 because they are ambitious and not 100% successful but there are a lot of good moments and I love s6.2 Renaissance, that’s a great one.

‘Poor Narvin’ does appear to be a unifying first step to liking the guy

The Narvin pity to obsession pipeline is sooooo real

It’s true it happened to me (though I did speedrun it a bit with Damned if you Do, which I should really relisten to after all the character development he’s going through rn in season 3)

Hi, never said anything in none of the Gallifrey posts but as I was talking about Gary Russell just now I think it’s time.

The problem is me. I only listened to series one so far. Which is really good. So why haven’t I continued it yet? The problem is me. I had this crazy idea to go through Doctor Who somewhat in chronological order (from the Doctor’s point of view), so Gallifrey is far. Very, very faaaar.

Anyways, I just wanted to say that I find series one very funny. It’s hilarious that the entirety of it is a justification to Leela and Andred divorcing at the end. 4 hours of why Leela is the best and Andred doesn’t deserve anything from her. I condone this message.

That is the correct message to take away from Gallifrey  I literally adore her so much it makes me want to burst
