Not started it yet but a great trailer, the idea that this Doctor also wants to go out & see the universe. Is there some subconscious desire to leave Gallifrey? A hint to themselves about their real origin?

Really enjoying this. Great to have Jo Martin as full lead without having to share the limelight with another Doctor.

Given that it was the thing I was least looking forward to, the use of the Daleks here is as well done as it could be. Still would rather they weren’t used at all but they don’t overpower the thing as much as I thought they would.

This is something I really like that the very existence of the character throws up. Sure, the Doctor is changed and shaped by their adventures and memories but that wouldn’t automatically mean that this Doctor (or any incarnation from this point in the Doctor’s life) would be a vastly different character. There must be some constant which runs through them regardless of incarnation, memory and experience. They’re the same person after all.

Ooh this is such a rich aspect of the show to explore, I really hope it’s mined competently! Fast Times is a strong opener, unspectacular in many ways but a proficient season opener in teeing up what is essentially a new series.

May not go straight into The Legend of Baba Yaga as I’ve got work to do, but I’m keen to!

My one wish for Most Wanted is that they’d avoided Earth entirely, kinda falling into the trap with the War Doctor. Not affecting my enjoyment, but wish that they’d introduced new planets for the Fugitive Doctor to be interested in.

Alright, dropping my review of Fast Times here, beware of mild spoilers to anyone who hasn’t listened but I’ve tried to avoid too many specifics. I felt weirdly mean writing this even though I enjoyed the story. I guess I found it shallow in a couple of ways? Though it’s a good start and I don’t really have major issues with it.

Continuity brain is not loving that this isn’t following up on the idea that Atropos was the Doctor’s final mission for Division (or at least promised to be) so I hope they circle back to that, though I fully expect Season 6B style repeated memory wipe shenanigans to be revealed. I’ll catch up with the rest of the thread once I get to listen to the other stories.

SPOILER

In The Legend of Baba Yaga, the Fugitive Doctor’s TARDIS takes on the shape of the Police Box and the Fugitive Doctor doesn’t understand why.

i do feel as though the story doesn’t confirm her placement in the timeline, as its clear when listening things have happened i won’t get into exactly. i will say i was disappointed at the lack of cosmo across the set.

Has anyone noticed that parents is a theme? Fade with her missing parents, Vasilisa with her step mother. Do you think it’s supposed to be mirroring the Fugitive Doctor’s own life with Tecteun?

ooooh yeah good shout. i really hope we hear tecteun in a future set honestly.

To up the sakes, I think in a future boxset if they do confirm that she’s Pre-Hartnell, they could have the Fugitive Doctor remember everything from being found and adopted by Tecteun, up to being brought to Gallifrey. It gives her even more of a reason not be recaptured by Division, because if she does, she’ll lose a huge part of her identity forever.

As someone who isn’t that familiar or interested in all the lore surrounding Gallifrey and the history of the Time Lords, will this set be confusing to listen to? I was reading through some of the recent comments on the other Fugitive thread and couldn’t parse a lot of what everyone was saying. I have watched/listened to/read everything else she’s been in, but I didn’t understand anything that was happening in Coda.

I wouldn’t say so, Division remains mysterious and you learn more about it from the Fugitive Doctor and other characters.

Spoilers for The Dimension of Lost Things

I’ve just listened to The Dimension of Lost Things, in the story when the Fugitive Doctor is in the time winds, she sees a figure from her past that she’s really afraid of and has so much rage and anger towards, who she says stole her memories, that has to be Tecteun right?

Fast Times! A great opening episode despite the presence of Daleks. Jo Martin is fantastic, the characterisation of the Fugitive Doctor is spot on. & it’s a fast paced introduction to the range.
