Maybe shop for some ideas over here: Why did you choose your username? - General / off topic - TARDIS Guide Forum

Exploring the ‘Don’t Blink’ angle, here’s some ‘catalyst’ suggestions…

  • DOblink
  • I’m an Angel!
  • Angel Delight
  • You know, I’m not made of stone.

Are there any other areas you might base your profile name around?

We could ALL change our profile pics to you for a day!:joy::rofl:

I’m in. When do you suggest?

A username so long that it would rival @deltaandthebannermen for longest username!

That is, until I decide to change mine to TheDoctorTheWidowAndTheWardrobe

Good idea! Maybe for April Fool’s or my birthday (March 18th)!

Well we’re not going to tell you when we do it, are we? Where would be the fun in that?

My personal thoughts about changing avatars and usernames:
I tend to rarely change my username at all, though I do have more than one username I use on the internet.

As far as avatars go, I do change mine occasionally, but generally to something that’s in keeping with my current one. The two avatars I’ve had here are both of Sweetie Belle from My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, and, in fact, at one point I had a long streak of altering and redrawing the same picture for an avatar, though that had ended before joining the forums.

I also sometimes change my avatar for seasons and holidays. (A costume for Halloween, which I didn’t do this year, or a santa hat for December.)

And, yes, I’ve changed my avatar and username for a day for April 1st before. (At one point, GabbAI, with an avatar of a griffon named Gabby, also from MLP:FiM.)

My biggest thought would be that if you are going to change both your avatar and username permanently, don’t change them at the same time, so people are more likely to remember the change. (And be ready to remind people of who you are…)

I don’t ever plan on changing my username, that’s just who I am here. My profile picture, that I’ll change periodically, but it will probably always be a Jurassic World Evolution 2 screenshot.

Or if it isn’t from “Jurassic World Evolution 2”, a avatar of a dinosaur would still be easily recognisable…

I agree with everything that @SweetAIBelle wrote. The important bit about the username and picture is to get to know who you are and If you change it do it one bit at a time. I think that a good example of how to do it is @AlfieSigma who changed his name but kept his recognisable image. That made the transition easy.

Oh this wug is gonna stay with me forever :k9:

…Which reminds me, I really should read the original paper sometime. Maybe now.

Silly as it might be, I basically picture people as their avatars, even when that’s clearly not the case. So, as far as I’m concerned, Darth Gallifrey is a talking dinosaur, and I’m a talking unicorn.

(And if I ever was going to have an avatar that wasn’t Sweetie Belle here, the most single likely one for it to be would be the Unicorn in The Mind Robber…)

Aaah, it’s flattering to know that you picture me as Matt Smith! He’s much better looking than me

I do the same, even though I understand that this is not the case. But it was nice to easily find @BillFiler , as he looked exactly like his picture.

And, full disclosure, my hair is not nearly as curly as my avatar, nor is it pink and purple. (Though if I was going to dye my hair…)

No yeah same lmao

I do to, which is especially silly with the likes of @BillFiler and @sircarolyn (among others). It’s part of the reason I’m keeping my avatar as me for the moment - I rarely do it elsewhere (I was the Black Orchid Harlequin on GB and I’m Ken Dodd on BlueSky).
