For me it’s not just about being predictable its that Gatiss has had his time, like the article says NINE episodes as well as appearing in some. Why should he come back? I’m sure there are so many talented young writers out there who could create some amazing stories for the show.
& of course the more a writer returns the more predictable & obvious some of their tropes & concepts become. Like the Oscar Wilde example, its so easy to imagine a Gatiss story now.

I get that but I also don’t know why RTD (or any showrunner for that matter) needs to write all the episodes. Even in a short 8 episode season you could have new writers, a returning writer and some RTD ones. That is effectively what we got last season even if we could have done with less RTD.

But I’ve just realised, The Imprtance of Being Earnest is about an orphan, found in a handbag as a baby. Timeless Child/Ruby Road thematic tie in!

There’ll be an epilogue scene, 15 & Ruby getting in the TARDIS saying goodbye to Wilde. She drops her handbag, Oscar returns it to her.
Ruby: Thanks that was a present from my biological mum, I was adopted.
Oscar: Mmm, adopted? Mmm, handbag?
Ruby: Why you looking so earnest?
