I feel the need to give an honourable mention to British dancing:
Year 4 school discos, where all the lads stood on one side of the assembly hall, and all the girls on the other; everyone too nervous to ask each other to dance.
Then the Cha-Cha slide and the ketchup song comes on, and the room erupts.
