Very easy choice this time. Demons of the Punjab and Rogue for me. Both two beautifully written episodes, really great. Honourary mentions to Dalek and Extremis !
Demons of the Punjab and Extremis for me. I think Demons of the Punjab is a beautifully tragic episode, and not just one of the best Chibnall episodes, but episodes in general. I really enjoy the premise of Extremis, a forbidden book that drives people to suicide, the technique they use to work it out, and the Doctor asking the real Doctor for help, magnificent.
Voted for (controversial opinion) The Doctorâs Daughter and Rogue. I feel like I need to rewatch Thirteenâs era to get the praise for Demons. Extremis and Dalek never really did it for me like they have for others.
I also voted for this. I love that episode and find it to be so much fun!
I know! I really donât understand why it seems to be so disliked around here.
Demons of the Punjab all the way. Beautiful, beautiful story. Extremis also gets my vote ââ what a fantastic plot!
From the others, The Bells of Saint John is underrated IMO.
I actually like Vampires of Venice. That is all
I quite like The Doctorâs Daughter it just has a few issues I feel:
- Why bring back Martha and then do almost nothing with her? She is barely in this episode
- Jenny dies and they just walk away and leave her to regenerate, why didnât they check? Also it took way longer than normal for her to regenerate for plot reasons
- She regenerates but stays the same? How does that make sense
- If a machine can make Time Lords then the Doctor should use it and create loads, think of the good he could do with a whole load of offspring who can regenerate!
So I do like the episode but those things annoy me a bit!
If I looked like that I would also stay the same
Dalek (bit obvious but hey) and⌠man, second choice was much tougher. Demons Of The Punjab is one of the stronger early Thirteenth episodes, and Rogue, I just love to pieces (although I do need to rewatch it at some point).
Ah, what the hell, let the extraterrestrial geeks have their day; Rogue it is!
According to Moffat and the BBC official book âCompanions and Alliesâ, Jenny did not regenerate but was brought back to life by the Source.
The âenergyâ she breathes also looks more like the Sourceâs terraform gas than regenerative energy too.
Not a huge amount of competition there. Demons of the Punjab is miles ahead of the rest, IMO and I went with Rogue although Dalek is probably equal. The rest are very âmehâ really. (Although I would probably put Age of Steel next).
Oh, did not know that, well that makes it a bit better and a bit more interesting. I wonder if the Big Finish spin-off ever mentions anything about it?
Itâs Extremis right, none of the other stories here are all that standout, so that gets my vote easily
âŚshe said, then realised sheâd scrolled down too far and dalek was cut off the top of her screen, so went back and voted for that too
I really like Extremis, and really like the Monk trilogy in theory, but feel the last one was a drop in quality which kinda ruined the whole thing for me, it could have been amazing!
I also recently listened to an audio story about the Monks (not sure if itâs a spoiler, I mean itâs on the cover, but just in case: itâs from the Classic Doctors, New Monsters set: Five Hundred Ways to Leave Your Lover) and it made me want to rewatch those episodes!
I also didnât like the last Monks episode (and I didnât like Pyramid that much either) but Extremis felt unique and separate enough that that didnât taint my enjoyment of it much.
And 50 Ways was lovely!
Easy Dalek and Extremis, but after that Demons of Punjab
Btw is the next ur doing ep7 or just like part 1 finales?
