Everything Changes - A Torchwood Thread

While this would be cool to see.
I just can’t see BF securing Bradley Walsh for any audio dramas sadly.

No, yeah, I’m unfortunately with you on that

Why not? He’s not a mega-star

He does have a pretty busy work schedule I imagine what with The Chase and Gladiators (and getting his son work… ).

Well I re-listened to Made You Look which was really good, loved the villain in that, and then Visiting Hours which is a fun story.

Next is The Dollhouse :expressionless: I remember this one, and not fondly…

Made You Look is just great isn’t it!

As for The Dollhouse, eh, there’s things to like about it, the Charley’s Angels pastiche is nice and I think the story and what it’s saying works well with it in a way that you couldn’t do with other Torchwood characters… but also it’s not exactly my favourite

I think it’s almost there, but not quite

I like the Dollhouse, not as a standout favourite or anything, but not bad to listen to for an hour. It helps that I got it for £3.

It was! I’d like to see Torchwood take on some other property in a similar way again. We got one instance of it with Art Decadence drawing from Jeeves and Wooster.

Of the top of my head we could have, a pastiche of The Man from UNCLE - A Torchwood agent gets paired with his Russian counterpart during the Cold War

I like this idea (and I’ve never even watched a full episode of The Man from UNCLE!)

Oh that sounds super fun!

As far as other potential pastiches go, my brain immediately goes to The X-Files, perhaps there’s another remnant of Torchwood left in America after the fall of the empire that’s got basically 0 funding and has been all but forgotten about by Torchwood proper

I’m dreading that one - looks abysmal.

Finally listened to Dollhouse and, if you ignore the terrible accents all round, it’s actually not that bad. Kinda fun.

I’ll be glad to be back to my regular, scheduled Torchwood Team though.

Just listened to Corpse Day and oh man I was not ready for that :expressionless:

It’s like they watched Countrycide and thought “Let’s do this again, but even sicker”.

Yikes. I feel like I need a shower now.

Yeahhhhhh, it really is like that isn’t it

Corpse Day is definitely the furthest they’ve pushed this in terms of how ■■■■■■ up they can make a TW Audio. There’s some more that are also very ■■■■■■ (Night of the Fendahl and Cuckoos come to mind) but they’re not even close to Corpse Day

It’s also an incredible character piece for Andy and Owen, you wouldn’t be able to tell it’s the first time their characters have shared a ‘screen’. Their dynamic is brilliant right off the bat and the way it’s then pushed to its limits here. It’s both amazing and horrifying.

I both can’t reccomend anyone listen to it, but also can’t reccomend it enough. It’s just one of those stories.

Oof, Corpse Day… Not one I enjoyed, or liked at all, but it is as you say amazing and horrifying.

Funnily enough I’d say The Hope is my favourite Torchwood audio and Corpse Day is my least favourite. Both James Goss scripts, both Owen and Andy stories. An interesting parallel!

Corpse Day, Suckers, Night of the Fendahl, and the Lincolnshire Poacher are all the audios I’d consider to be some of the darkest in terms of what the main cast go through.

Night of the Fendahl was one I didn’t really like when first listening to, but grew on me overtime cuz I couldn’t stop thinking of how morbid it was.

Lincolnshire Poacher I jumped in thinking it was gonna be a black comedy, but it was just heartbreaking to listen to.

Suckers and Corpse Day feel slightly more grounded in reality imo, as depressing as that is.

But all of these are the ones I’d consider to be literal nightmare scenarios.

I love Suckers! That one is so underrated, and made me so sad.
