I somewhat liked Sleeper but if you want you could always skip it. Its not important for anything in the rest of the show
I’ve endured through some episodes I really didn’t like (Random Shoes, I’m looking at you), but there’s nothing really wrong with Sleeper for me.
So I’m really confused as to why I’m having this problem with the episode, because it’s not one I feel like skipping.
I will admit it was a bit slow at first.
What are your favorite episodes from TW Series 1

- They Keep Killing Suzie
- Random Shoes
- Out of Time
- Combat
- Jack Harkness
- End of Days
Everything Changes is a very good introduction to Torchwood.
Day One is… interesting. A solid episode.
Ghost Machine is good but not one I’d really want to rewatch.
Cyberwoman is a good episode, overheated far too much.
Small Worlds is nauseatingly bad.
Countrycide is so, so good!
Greeks Bearing Gifts is good as a Tosh episode, but the transphobic stuff just gets me angry.
They Keep Killing Suzie is one I don’t really remember, but I think it’s alright.
I hate Random Shoes I hate Random Shoes I hate Random Shoes I hate Rand
Out of Time is good, but not that good. And that sex scene was way too long.
Combat made me angry, in a good way though.
Captain Jack Harness is just lovely.
I’m a big fan of End of Days.
I continued my Torchwood Main Range journey tonight while I was building some LEGO
Deadbeat Escape: I enjoy Bilis but do also always find myself just being a little annoyed with him because I’m still not sure exactly who/what he’s supposed to be. But this was a very creepy and effective story with a nice twist! 4/5
Night of the Fendahl: I’d heard this was a dark one, and yep it’s pretty grim. But honestly I was just so happy to hear Gwen again, I didn’t care what was going on some great callbacks to Classic Who and a brilliant payoff at the end. 4/5
The Green Life: ooh another Classic spinoff episode. Jo is lovely. Jack is Jack. A fun little romp. Unfortunately the “twist” (if you can even call it that) was signposted about 10 mins into the audio and it made me feel very annoyed that they didn’t work it out sooner. Could have been done much better. Also I kind of hate how it does that thing that suggests vegan food is bad for you, in this case made from maggots. Meh. 3/5.
An enjoyable evening of entertainment!
After listening to some DW Main Range for a while then coming back to this it just feels like coming back home. Torchwood is hitting it out of the park for me love it!
The Torchwood BF is just so superb, I’ve rarely disliked one. Really good choices too!
Deadbeat Escape and Night of the Fendahl are both just so good
And you’ve got more Doctor Who monsters with Sync and Sargasso next!
I really liked Deadbeat Escape, the environment was incredibly unnerving, and that ending was brilliant.
If its no trouble i’d like to get some torchwood main range recommendations so far i did
- Torchwoodcascade.cdrip.tor
- Made You Look
- Deadbeat Escape
- Dissected
- Madam I’m
- Dollhouse
- Moving Target
My highest rated Torchwood Main Range so far (only done 26) are:
- Broken
- We Always Get Out Alive
Special mention of:
- Fall to Earth
- One Rule
- Ghost Mission
- Made You Look
- The Last Beacon
Tropical Beach Sounds is excellent. And whichever one has Ianto and a Sontaran in a caravan.
I adore More than This, it makes me cry. And The Hope is an absolute all-timer!
Recent stories that blew me away include Suckers, Missing Molly and Art Decadence!
Something I find very exciting about the TW ranges is that there are still loads of stories people rave about I haven’t listened to! Incomplete list but I know Rhys and Ianto’s Excellent Barbecue, Iceberg, Sonny, and the Soho range are adored, among others.
Absent Friends is also pretty great.
Ianto making The Doctor a coffee with chocolate sprinkles and whipped cream and Jack mumbling to himself “I never get chocolate sprinkles …”. Or just the fact that Jack walks into the hub expecting to have fun with Ianto and then opens the door to see Ianto and 10 flirting with eachother.
I need Absent Friends so badlyy
“Pumped up Valley Boy named Chet” lives in my head rent free too…and “like waiting for a microwave to ping”
And then Ianto entering the TARDIS at some point…
NEVER BRING UP ABSENT FRIENDS AGAIN IM GONNA BE SICK-
I just really, really, really want a John Hart and Ianto story. Please, Big Finish. I’d pay anything!
I bought some Torchwood novels, but I’m not sure where in the series I should be before I read them.
