I was honestly worried this was going to be another companion-lite episode, but it thankfully didn’t turn it that… not entirely, at least.
Where do people even spoil the episodes??
I think I would’ve enjoyed this story more if this season wasn’t so short and/or they’d tied it more to the pantheon rather than just namedropping irl gods. The concepts introduced are Amazing and frankly, need several episodes to properly be done justice, but it’s just Too Much for one episode in such a short and packed season.
I honestly liked this episode’s take on the Pantheon better than the others… even though this didn’t even feature them. It’s a story arc built on the idea that Gods are a factual reality in this universe, and this feels like the first time an episode actually went “Okay, what’s the effect of that as a reality?” rather than just having another group of all-powerful beings running around.
I don’t think that this episode would have worked if she had a bigger role. This really felt like Ncuti’s story, and I am glad that he had centre stage in it.
This year, bizarrely, a youtube comment section The same guy before the series started leaked the twists for The Well and the cameo here, and the next few eps stuff. Then set photos leaked the Harbinger Ep2 twist and fake-out monsters in Lucky Day
One more reason to never venture into the YouTube comments section.
Oh no I agree! Just felt so sidelined to the point idk if it was worth having her there really.
Good day to know I’m not that online besides forum
Like, I thought they were building up to the Barber being a member of the pantheon or a harbinger of the god of stories etc (which i’ve seen theorised to be Mrs Flood, explaining all the fourth wall breaks this era etc and ngl there’s a part of me still hanging on to this theory)
Just for the “Hurt people hurt people” beat between her and Abby, I’d say it was worthwhile her being in this.
As sure as I am that it will tick most of the audience off, I’m holding onto my theory that the Doctor is the God of Stories.
Then again, I’ve always just assumed that that’s what the Doctor is.
Maybe this season isnt just for you? And thats fine.
I’d be cautious with that argument. It’s a lighter way of saying “There’s nothing wrong with the show, there’s something wrong with you”.
I think this was probably one of the best in the genre of episode resolutions that basically consist of the doctor listing cool stuff they’ve done.
I find them a bit of a cop out but this episode was literally about an engine powered by stories. Plus the doctor had to get to the engine first which required being clever and apologising for a past mistake.
I didnt imply that at all,but they havent liked a single episode this season,so maybe its just not for them idk, sorry if i came off strong.
I admire what they were going for. Loved the visuals, loved the general atmosphere. Doctor Who going for something new. I vibed with a lot of it, although it felt strangely paced at times and I thought it got a bit too convoluted somewhere in the middle. I’m also tired of “the Doctor overloads the system with their life story”-style resolutions. I’ve gone for 3/5, although in truth it might be more 3.5 and almost hovering around 4. I just think it tried to do a little too much and got lost in itself.
Absolutely stellar stuff. You can tell that this was written by someone new to Doctor Who, in all the best ways. Never seen an episode like this.
And loved the cameo! Never knew it had leaked. Honestly will never understand why people leak things, or why folks who like leaks like them. They just ruin the experience.
would love to know how you felt about lux and the well.
I think Koquillion posted in those threads
