This is not our headache.
We are the audience and the fans, we continue watching, talking and writing about and spreading the love for the show.
It’s the BBC who look at all the data and decide what they want to do with it. We can’t do anything about it, and nor should we stress about it.

I always just think that viewing figures can be used to prove whatever point is being made, they’re numbers which have lost meaning. I’m sure they’re a metric which still gets considered to a small degree by the powers that be but viewing habits have shifted far too much for them to be the be-all and end-all.
RTD has said himself; the merchandising is a larger factor for Doctor Who so as long as it keeps making a killing with the stuff it pumps out then it’s on firmer ground than the viewing figures suggest, whatever they happen to be.
Also, even when they did matter I found viewing figures such a dull topic. I always thought, “Let’s talk about the show!” That’s what I love rolling my sleeves up and getting into.
I do get it though, as someone who lived through the wilderness years the anxiety that Doctor Who could go away again is always there and viewing figures being a gauge to the show’s future certainty is hard to shake. But we’re in a hugely different world now.
Viewing figures used to be an enormous albatross around the show’s neck, now they’re just buzzing little flies around its head.
That isn’t a dig about them dwindling in size btw, just a point in how I think they’re waning in status and pertinence

Exactly, it’s like any statistic. You can manipulate and change the presentation of statistics to say whatever you want them to.

The danger is that they take all the wrong lessons from the 60th getting higher numbers and bring David Tennant back again. I love David Tennant, he is my favourite Doctor and I think he’s a fantastic Doctor, but Doctor Who has to move on from him to keep surviving.

I’ve seen so many variations of this, to the point where fans can’t decide when it “should” be aired 
Spring isn’t working, Autumn doesn’t work because there’s so much else on, Winter is a dead slot, etc etc. I’ve heard fans complain about literally every timeslot and transmission time. Just makes me laugh.

So, the best thing would be to air every episode and season at a random time! The BBC just randomly airs the episodes and it would be a delightful surprise for us whenever we’d discover a new episode!

So, I showed this episode to my little friend who’s in third grade now. I wasn’t able to watch it with him beyond the first few minutes. Anyway, he asked me today if The Robot Revolution is one of the more scary ones in Doctor Who. I don’t recall anything being too scary? Need a rewatch to confirm, but what do you guys think? Any element that might scare a nine-year-old a bit in this ep?

Right, the cat! He loves cat so it’s a bit upsetting. And the designs… I always get surprised what visuals seem to startle or scare them when watching films with family. I got used to too many creepy things over the years
