I’d watch The Web Planet over Planet of Giants or most of An Unearthly Child any day, so I’m marking down Marks equal to Strutton and Coburn, while continuing to bump up the tragicomic talents of Donald Cotton

Trying to save Louis because I have a soft spot for Planet of Giants.

Still flying the flag for Strutton but The Tenth Planet is actually quite boring beyond the excellence of the Cybermen themselves.

I’m surprised Bill Strutton didn’t get out in the first few rounds. According to wiki he only wrote The Web Planet which I think is the worst First Doctor era story.
Anyways I found Ian’s The Savages and The War Machines incredibly boring and both stories had a very awkward companion exit (especially for Dodo).
It’s really hard to decide which writer is the best of this era but for now I’m giving Dennis Spooner a point because he wrote one of my favorite stories of the era: The Romans which is a full on comedy.

I was hoping to be the one to remove Strutton from the game, but fortunately there are other sensible people on this forum who made the important move for me!
How Hayles is still around is beyond me - the writing is the worst aspect of The Celestial Toymaker and The Smugglers is dull beyond reason.
