Hour 17 - The Martian Dilemma
BBC Audio: Four From Doom’s Day
This is probebly not that bad. It just feels like I have given up on this series. 2.5/5
Next up: An Ood Halloween - BBC Audio: Four From Doom’s Day

Next up: An Ood Halloween - BBC Audio: Four From Doom’s Day
BBC Audio: Four From Doom’s Day
Brian The Ood is back! That was a bit of fun. That makes this 0.5 points better than the last one. 3/5
Next up: Dark Space - BBC Audio: Four From Doom’s Day
BBC Audio: Four From Doom’s Day
Doom and 12 is on a strange planet. Why am I continuing this quest I don’t enjoy them. 2.5/5
Next up: Dawn of an Everlasting Peace - Big Finish: Doom’s Day: Dying Hours- The BF once are longer than the BBC Audio once…
Because you’re a Doctor Who fan and, like most of us, probably a bit of a completionist. And because there’s a collectable achievement badge when you finish.
For the badge.
On the one hand Tardis Guide is a great resource for marking off what you’ve watched and what collectables your have
On the other hand, CURSE YOU @shauny MY QUEST FOR BADGES WILL NEVER BE COMPLETE
Big Finish: Doom’s Day: Dying Hours
I actually thought that this was kind of good. It had good acting and a more exciting plot than the last couple of stories. It is by no means a masterpiece but it felt like a breath of fresh air after some boring once. 3.5/5
Next up: A Date with Destiny - Big Finish: Doom’s Day: Dying Hours
Precisely, the Big Finish boxset is actually quite a solid product, especially compared to some of the other stuff. If they’d led with it or dotted the full cast hours throughout the story rather than saving it all till the end then I do think the whole Doom’s Day arc would have likely been a bit easier to get through.
Big Finish: Doom’s Day: Dying Hours
This is just getting better! Jackie Tyler Is amazing as always! As @ChrisStokes said: why did they save these for last? Doom finally have a personality and these are fun! 4/5
Next up: The Howling Wolves of Xan-Phear - Big Finish: Doom’s Day: Dying Hours
At least this hasn’t been a total waste and you’re going out on a high!
Big Finish: Doom’s Day: Dying Hours
The weakest of BF Dooms Day set yet but still an okay story. It is crazy how much better this concept is when you get a good actress to play the part. I still think that the stories would have benefited from a companion to play of Doom but it is so much better this way. I almost feel like re-read some of the early stuff now when I know more about Doom ( I will not do that but this set makes the journey so much better) 3/5
Next up: The Crowd - Big Finish: Doom’s Day: Dying Hours
Ok that made me laugh out loud
Glad you’re enjoying!
Big Finish: Doom’s Day: Dying Hours
The BF set got better again with the last story. A fun story with Doom, Eighth, and Charly where they try to stop the Crowd. They like being around misery so much that they try to create more. Interesting concept 3.5/5
Next up: Out of Time - Short Story. The last story!
You’re almost there @Tian ! Thank you for doing this, I’ve always been curious about this marathon.
Thank you @ChrisStokes for the added vital context along the way. Together they make for excellent reading.
Short Story
I think that this was an okay ending for this story. It feelt like it wrapped up everything that was needed. I would have liked it to be a bit more fleshed out but it was okay. 3/5
Out of your two ‘multi-platform event’ threads, I think TLV is the one I may bother getting into. This one just seemed a bit naff although I might try the audio stuff. It’s pretty far down my list of wants though.
Thank you for doing these though. It’s been a fascinating read.
I will write a bit more of my thoughts in a couple of days and maybe even a guide. But in short, this is mostly a mess with some gems. But if you want to do one of these events do TLV. It is so much more fun.
Let’s go.
The little trailer introducing Doom and the event gives us the information needed, but it seems like they went with late 90s green screen technology for the background. If they are going to hook people they need to give something a bit more enticing or a bit of spectacle I say.
I like the initial short story “Hour One”. It sets up a good premise for a quest-style storyline. Though I could do with a bit more information about what happened to set “literal Death” on Doom.
Terri the cranky secretary for the Lesser Order of Oberon got more characterisation than Doom did.
Hours 2-5, the way, waaaay too short DWM comics were just that - too short to give us anything really.
Hour 2: It made great sense for Doom to seek out River in Stormcage, but she was there for 2 pages and River didn’t bat an eyelash at telling an assassin that just materialised in her cell where to find the Doctor? And also wasn’t Doom meant to do some assassinating on this mission?
Hour 3: There are Autons and the Sixth Doctor aaaaand that’s an exhaustive detailed account of what happened here.
The Sixth Doctor was totally okay with Doom assassinating someone right in front of him? Okay then.
Hour 3: Huh? What was the point of playing dress up with Cybermen. That was just nothing.
Hour 4: Assassinating the “idea” of a Unicorn? And apparently Jo Grant is there…
Hour 1: 3,5/5
Hour 2: 2/5
Hour 3: 2/5
Hour 4: 1,5/5
Hour 5: 2/5
Welcome to the madness that is Dooms day!
Doom and Missy (I mean Doctor Who of course) are dancing across time and space.
We are starting to get some indications that Doom actually is a good assassin
Now we’ve also had Cat people and once again a trip back to Stormcage.
I really liked the callback to Titan’s Missy comic in Stormcage (but the artwork didn’t quite line up for me, that was meant to be the Delgado Master watching TV right?)
Then it’s a rushed trip to New Earth, but Missy is still fun.
The final mission/hour was great. Doom and Missy/Doctor Who having tea, that was a fun one.
Hour 6: 3,5/5
Hour 7: 4/5
Hour 8: 3/5
Hour 9: 4/5
