I may not like that tabloid but they’re usually bang on the money with Doctor Who news. I’m not shocked, and in all honesty if getting rid of Disney means the normal time slot returns then I am here for it!
I honestly don’t mind waiting to 2027 if that means we’re not losing it totally. And if it has to get scaled down a little for budget reasons, well - I wouldn’t be mad about not Exploding the WHOLE UNIVERSE every three episodes. I’m still not trusting anything untill I see the BBC say it with my own eyes though
Let the doctor engage in a cheeky bit of fun with The Master
Yeah, I was never worried about the show ending if Disney decided to cut Who out. I am curious how and when we’d get it outside of the UK. For the US, would BBC America pick it up again, or would I need yet another streaming service? Would Australia get it on ABC again, CBC or CTV Sci-Fi or whatever for Canada?
Let’s be clear that the article doesn’t say that Disney pulled out. It says that IF Disney pulled out, the BBC would still go on with another season. Which I already suspected but it’s still really nice to read, even when it comes from an undisclosed source.
Imagine if Disney doesnt pull out and we get it in 2026.
They are running out of time at this point.
But could be possible, especially if they went back to airing in the Autumn.
Which I think they should do, to be honest, it makes the scary episodes scarier when it’s dark outside.
I don’t think we should expect S3 in 2026, regardless of who’s producing it. Production times take such a long time these days, and I’m sure they don’t want to rush it just to get it out next year.
Oh evening Who how I miss you…
With scripts not even written? Not a chance we’d see a season in 2026. But hopefully, if Disney does extend the deal we could more reliably get a season a year for as many years as they’d extend.
If Fallout is getting S2 this winter, it’s totally feasible we will see DW S3 next year.
They may use old scripts, ask new writers with deadlines, adapt EU material.
I wouldn’t write it off as an impossibility.
At the level of production they’re at now, I don’t think they could get it done in time. Especially if there’s still work to be done for TWBTLATS.
Which I do verbally refer to as “twibtilatz”
Maybe if it was 20 years ago when working conditions were described as almost abusive, but now they’ve put a big emphasis on not pushing the team too hard. Rushing would also limit their ability to both do reshoots, and rework scripts, I’d imagine if they wanted to get it out next year they’d be using a lot of first drafts. The wait will be worth it
Exactly. I’m fine with a bit of a wait if it means those involved in the production can work on humane schedules.
This time slot is really your nemesis, isn’t it? I don’t think that the Disney deal was the cause of this change of approach.
Very much so Its just so wrong on so many levels for me. Hmm, Season 1 very much felt like it was geared to non-UK audiences with the midnight approach, at least 8am is moderately better. I’d still rather it go back to how it was.
I don’t know what audience that would be because it was not optimal for America either. I think that the BBC are just testing what works best for the show. They will probably continue to experiment with this.
I don’t want it to change, 5pm is the perfect time for me. Reality War is going to be at 3am
