Doctor Who Season One Finale in Cinemas

I did have it open and hoping someone would look over my shoulder to be honest lol

I should have told some people but pretty socially anxious.

While I had issues with the episode, I canā€™t deny that watching Doctor Who in cinema ruled

I do think putting the episodes in cinemas is a good idea, but having those screenings at 11pm is totally baffling to me.

I get that they are trying to tie it in to the midnight iPlayer release, but 11pm is such an inconvenient time for many. For one thing, public transport options are extremely limited at that time, so if you live about an hour or more away from the nearest screening, it makes it utterly impossible to go. Itā€™s also, IMO, very hard to concentrate on anything thatā€™s not a comedy or animation when you get beyond midnight.

What makes it even more daft is the fact that Doctor Who is a family drama series. I feel sorry for kids who wanted to see these episodes on the big screen. Iā€™m not a parent myself, but I know that if I was a Dad, I certainly wouldnā€™t be taking any kids to a cinema at 11pm at night.

The screenings should have been made to tie in with the BBC1 broadcast instead. 6:30pm is a much better time for most for going to the cinema than 11pm.

What was the message?

I agree the time was strange. I would have watched it at 6:30pm for sure.

But the cinema was pretty packed so it didnā€™t scare off that many people.

There were actually a few kids in the cinema where I was as well! Probably age 8-12. They all had Sonic Screwdrivers, it was adorable.

It was a message from Millie Gibson, thanking everyone for going to the cinema to see it at such a late time and saying how proud and honoured she was to be part of the season. Quite sweet!

Iā€™m glad in hindsight that I didnā€™t go to watch this in a cinema, I would have burst a blood vessel trying not to shout things.

Surprising to hear. My parents would never have allowed me to go to the cinema at 11pm when I was a kid.

My friendā€™s husband took their kids and they got in at about 1.30am!

But, one of the kids recorded Millieā€™s message on his phone and showed it to me this morning
