Doctor Who - season 2 (2025)

It’d be actually funny if they renew for S3 and S4 and everyone was dooming for no reason.

Yeah it will be more fun to see the haters spin that then to watch the seasons :joy:

I’m super excited, I just wish we would get more publicity and advertisements though.

I don’t think there was ever any danger of there NOT being a S3 or S4, just that Disney’s involvement was nebulous until after S2. I don’t get why it’d be a big deal IF Disney opted out but yeah, people like to drama about drama and awful lot.

The “haters” (not a term I like, it’s incredibly reductive - especially when it lumps in people with genuine issues and criticisms) of course are focusing on whatever happening meaning a delay in S3 but the only major issue I can see with that would be Ncuti’s frame of mind.

Either way, with the show performing that well for Disney it does look more likely they’ll stay invested if S2 performs the same way.

There’s never really any call for hysteria, it only stifles discussion.

I am excited but also a bit cautious, I must admit this Era hasn’t got me so far for the most Part, which is a shame. But hey new writers!! That makes me excited and thrilled to see it!

I mean even back during Jodie years when viewership wasnt that good,we got seasons every 2 years lol,so like if disney dropped S3 would probs be in late 2026 or early 2027.

Also just seen this.

The Christmas special was in the Top 10 movies worldwide on Disney+, a platform full of dozens of beloved movies to watch at Christmas.

I feel like they have been too shy with the good news about the show, that’s why people panic, but top 10! Let’s goooo! :tada:

It’s because good news rarely, if ever, generates buzz, clicks, and reactions the way bad news or sensationalised stories do. Stories about low ratings, Gatwa leaving, and the show getting axed spread like wildfire because of the social media algorithms. And it’s all about that engagement these days.

Are you saying the “Gatwa is leaving” was a coordinated “leaked” campaign from RTD and his team?

That’s sort of a good strategy :grin::wink:

Well, it could very well be a coordinated “leak.” We will never know

They did the same trick last year with Ruby…

Not sure tbh. All it does is feed the online community that hate the show. I think the PR for this era has been pretty poor, amounting to not much more than RTD saying every single episode is amazing best ever!

Personally speaking though I think Ncuti is going.

I think he is leaving too. If Disney gives Season 3 the go-ahead, we’ll probably see it in 2027 at the earliest, and Gatwa is probably getting plenty of job offers right now. It would be stupid of him to pass on potentially great job opportunities just because he waited to possibly return to Who.

Let’s say Ncuti is going, how would you prefer Season 2 to end?

  • With an open-ended regeneration scene
  • No regeneration scene, 15 just ‘walks off into the sunset’

While the second option would be kind of poetic, it also reminds me too much of the ending to Survival, and I just want to think that the show goes on one day, hiatus or not.

True. I also think Ncuti and co. would want a ‘definitive’ ending to his era, and it’d be odd not to give him a defining ‘last word’ and regeneration scene (even if it did fade to black or cut away).

I don’t think that he will regenerate this season. I also don’t think that these eight will be his last episodes. I think that he will do at least one more. He might be back and do it in a special or something, but I don’t think that they planned for him to only do two seasons.

I reckon you’re right, but plans can change. They never planned for Eccleston to only do 1 season, and Matt originally hinted he might be staying for Series 8 before plans changed rapidly.
