Doctor Who Fan Art / Media Thread

This is a thread for anyone who wishes to discuss, create or share their own Doctor Who fan art and media. There’s a thread already for Doctor Who YouTube/videos, so this is primarily for artwork and other visual projects! :star_struck:

I wanted to share a fan project by @xylymx on Twitter – they used Blender to create some mysterious and ominous TARDIS interior telesnaps and screencaps.

More here.

I suppose I’ll take this opportunity to do some absolutely shameless self-promotion. If it’s feasible for the powers that be in this forum to either lock that topic or consolidate it into this one to keep things neat and tidy, it would be greatly appreciated!

They look like they could be pulled from a missing horror story. Really spooky and atmospheric. Marvellous work!

If we’re on the subject of horror…

This has some wonderful fanart that someone made for the 50th Anniversary.

Didn’t want to put this in memes as it’s a TikTok link but this person did “doctor who series as described by still game” and I’m laughing so hard

Still game is a Scottish sitcom about pensioners and it’s very funny that’s all you need to know.

Still Game mentioned!!! I love that show especially any episode with Tam or Isa at the centre of it

Ahhh still game is peak!

I watched two episodes for my media class once and accidentally picked the one where everyone thought jack and victor were gay and I was cackling the whole time. The other ep I picked was the first one.

I’ve also seen a handful of the cast at con! Coincidentally the same one where a handful of classic doctors+sophie aldred were at haha

Oh those are brilliant episodes, my favourite is Cairds where the main two guys make a fake casino in their apartment to win a buggy for their pal

To mark one year since ‘The Reality War’, I made and posted this edit for the Fifteenth Doctor!

If you’re not careful and you noclip out of reality in the wrong areas, you’ll end up in the Backrooms, where it’s nothing but the stink of old moist carpet, the madness of mono-yellow, the endless background noise of fluorescent lights at maximum hum-buzz, and approximately six hundred million square miles of randomly segmented empty rooms to be trapped in

God save you if you hear something wandering around nearby, because it sure as hell has heard you

Seeing this just reminds me of how versatile Doctor Who is; what I wouldn’t give for the show to have a Backrooms-esque episode. The concept is so simple, so relatively minimalist, and so naturally compelling that I can easily imagine a 45-minute episode set there!

I made this a while ago, but it’s another edit to a Frank Sinatra song. Short but sweet, but, then again, that’s life…

(Edit: Rather than spamming this topic with links, I’ve added a few more to this post underneath the cut.)

I think it would be really cool to have a Backrooms or minimalist style episode with a silent threat like a Weeping Angel, claustrophobic and paranoid, Castrovalva type logic, or just existential dread, the sound design could equally be a combination of ambient and jarring. Okay, that all probably sounds better conceptually than it would be on screen, but I love stuff like that. I’m a huge fan of surrealism, playing with the medium, and subverting viewer expectations. True, it has to have a good story, too. What works as high concept can be difficult to execute.

You know what I wish was a cooler threat? The Autons in Rose. They were awesome, I just figure there’s more they could have done in the revival with the mannequin design. Mannequins are creepy.

There are so many fantastic editors out there, but I was reminded of these edits of Ben and Polly today:

They made one of the best edits I’ve ever seen for the Doctor and Clara. If I could get an edit tattooed onto my body, it would be that one, haha

This is art. There’s no other way to describe it.
