Do you think the revival will outlast the classic series?

You know, I genuinely want to hear the theme tune sung by @shauny now!

Maybe we could hear it every time we log onto the site or the forum?

I’d also write lyrics to the theme tune, like they did with the Eastenders theme song “Anyone can fall in love” (that’s sung by Mrs Flood, no less!!).

It would go something like this (to the tune of what I wrote above):

Doctor Whooooooooo
Yes, it’s meeeeeeee
River Song
and also Rickkyyyyyy

It will probably outlast the classic series for sure, I am not quite sure for how long. Not to say I believe any of those rather stupid clickbait videos you come across from time to time. Even if the Disney deal doesn’t work out, I think as long as the BBC is still standing, there is a good chance that doctor who will be too. Not only is it like one of the most recognizable Things the BBC has to offer, but because of its long history it’s in a similar Position such as the other big Sci-Fi Ips (although it’s definitely not as big as the both Star Ones, but that should be obvious).
Even if it gets cancelled, I can’t see it having such a long wilderness years again as the original we had. But then again you never know, still I am very doubtful that it will be cancelled any time soon at least, so yeah I’d say it has a good chance to outlast the classic series.

Doctor Who might be bigger than Star Trek and Star Wars in terms of material, but not in terms of widespread popularity. I think both of those have more presence in the public consciousness, especially here in the states.

Well that is not guaranteed, I think part of the reason a contributing funder was sought. RTD is trying to make Dr. Who still viable if the BBC as we know it ends.

That I don’t deny, admittedly my wording was probably a bit unclear. What I meant was more the fact that while Trek and Star Wars are obviously having a much bigger widespread popularity (especially in some certain countries). I’d be shocked if there was ever a time when there is no release of anything who related whatsoever. Similarly to the big two Star IPs, even at the times when those hadn’t a new TV show or a movie, they still lived through other means such merchandise, books and whatnot. Basically saying that even if it gets cancelled in the future, I doubt it will be forever, hope what I was trying to say is now clear ! Thanks of course for the correction!

Those two first lines also work with Adele’s Hello

This reminds me: we should have a different British artist or band perform their version of the theme tune (with their own lyrics) every season going forward. Then Doctor Who would be a bit like the Bond movies, and we could debate on the best Who Theme Songs.
