Decide Your Destiny - The Corinthian Project - Read-along 11

Do none of the rest of you also think it would be funny if we just went ‘actually, nah’ and left then??

You are right. We have tried to find action for the whole book, but it is clearly only exposition. Let’s just leave!

Oh my giddy aunt! I’ve read ahead from the majority vote and the fact we had a drink earlier us going to affect what happens!!

The Corinthian Project - Chapter 76

Summary

You are trapped in a dark room after the door locks behind you. The only light comes from a dim green emergency alarm panel, making it hard to see. You accidentally bump into Martha and sit on Jolla’s desk, enjoying the quiet—until the humming stops. The silence means Jolla has shut off the air supply to his Pod. With three people inside, oxygen will run out in hours. Jolla thinks you’re trapped, but he hasn’t considered the Doctor’s sonic screwdriver.

You break out to 79.

The Corinthian Project - Chapter 79

Summary

The Doctor finds a file labeled “Envirocon,” which contains evidence linking Jolla to a global oil company. Jolla is seeking oil and has likely sabotaged the Bio Domes to discredit Scripps’ research. If tomorrow’s presentation fails, the project could be shut down, leaving the oil bed free for exploitation by Envirocon. Suddenly, a loud alarm sounds, and an automated voice orders everyone to evacuate the West Quadrant.

The Corinthian Project - Chapter 86

Summary

The Doctor urges you to head to the West Quadrant, where the archives are stored. As you run toward it, you notice people fleeing because of a fire. The Doctor explains that Jolla is trying to destroy all the research records. Security shutters begin to close, but the Doctor dives under them, and you and Martha follow. Inside an Archive Pod, thick black smoke fills the air as memory cards burn in a filing cabinet. The ventilation system struggles, and all three of you start coughing.

Did you try a soda in the canteen?

  • If so, turn to 77.
  • If not, turn to 80.

Well we did have a drink so we should really just turn to 77 right? :slightly_smiling_face:

Are we going to pee on the fire?? :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Oh I just read on to 77 because we had tried the sodas.

Stop the cheating! You’re the kind of person who opens every door on their advent calendar on December 1st, aren’t you?

It’s not cheating! It wasn’t a choice because our previous choice means we can only choose the one option.

I suggest we don’t award Delta a badge for this, since he cheated and openly brags about it

I DIDN’T CHEAT!!!

(There’s another choice that’s not a choice coming up too).

I read the chapters we were going to be sent to and the ‘did you drink the soda’ WASN’T A CHOICE!

Geez, you people!!! :sob:

Yeah, I didn’t look at your summaries and kept going because we tried the soda earlier. There’s a lot of sequential actions, it’s kind of a failure of the choose your own premise imo.

See @Tian - @spaghetti agrees with me. Always knew they were a good 'un.

Of course we have a drink, what’s the worst that could happen?

The drink was a slow-acting poison and we die.

The Corinthian Project - Chapter 77

You suddenly remember the explosive mango-flavoured seaweed soda you grabbed from the canteen and pull the sticky, fluff-covered bottle from your pocket. With smoke filling the room and the Doctor trying to save memory cards while Martha searches for an extinguisher, you desperately try to unscrew the bottle’s tightly sealed lid.

After struggling, you finally twist it open. The bottle erupts, spraying fizzy juice everywhere. You throw it into a filing cabinet, and the sticky spray manages to put out the flames. The Doctor congratulates you and retrieves a half-melted memory card—only to drop it again because it’s still hot.

The Corinthian Project - Chapter 77

You regroup with everyone in the South Quadrant, exhausted from running around, but Jolla is nowhere to be found. Suddenly, sprinklers activate, drenching everyone. Scripps shouts that Jolla has tampered with the Project’s emergency systems, and the Doctor realizes the alarms and sprinklers are just a distraction—there are still explosives on the Bio Domes. The Doctor explains these are small explosives attached to gas cylinders, designed to make the disaster look like an accident. If the modified crops are released into the sea, it could cause global environmental damage. Jolla doesn’t care; he just wants profit. You all need to disarm the explosives quickly. Scripps suggests using Construction Suits to reach the North Quad.

  • If you have just seen Flux using a Construction Suit, then you know there is one close by and you can turn to 84.
  • Otherwise (or if you’d rather stick with the group) follow the others to 4.

Another choice we don’t need to make because of the choices we’ve already made… I’ve read past this bit.

Could we simply move onto the next choice that is a choice? x
