I don’t really believe in time travel, but if I say so, the Doctor will prove me wrong by taking me to the past.

I’m voting for the first option, because even if I wasn’t as into Doctor Who, my child self still wanted to believe in time travel (and other speculative fiction means of traveling). [1]
Even nowadays, if my brother or one of my close friends told me they were stuck in a time loop and needed help getting out, my first instinct would be to believe them, not shutting them down by saying that time loops don’t exist. I’m not gullible, but I still hold out some small sliver of hope left over from childhood that timey-wimey weirdness is real, but I disgress. ↩︎
