I would recommend you to do the TLV in the right way. It is fun but a bit messy.
Agree. Time Lord Victorious is a fun ride
Glad you folks enjoyed it. No way I’m gonna gather the audios, comics, figurines and other whatnot needed for a nearly complete experience.
Even less chance of bothering with Doom’s Day.
I will cop to having watched the UNIT Field Logs as I’ve worked my way through most of the webcasts listed in the TARDIS Guide. Haven’t talked myself into trying to watch Scottish Falsetto Sock Puppet Theatre, though.
I hear you but it is worth it. I wrote a guide to it here.
Doom’s day is not worth the trouble.
That’s quite a nice guide.
Horrible. I am sure the People behind it tried their best and I will always bring this up, that being said, I don’t know if they barely got any Budget, but the Animation is really rough. Dare I say, one of the weakest in the Whoniverse (not surprising considering it was made exclusively for YouTube it seems). It’s not completely bad, but my God, I really couldn’t get behind it. At least for me the Quality for it all stayed pretty much the same, with the Parts where the Mechanoids appear getting a little better. I saw a few People who mention it has a “So bad, it’s good” Energy, which I am glad some have, but sadly I thought it was pretty dull and boring. The Mechanoids are here definitely the Highlight and overall the Voice Acting is pretty solid, can’t go wrong with Briggs, eh? But as an animated Outing, this is yet another of the various rather disappointing ones to add to the List, and it’s a shame. I love Animation as a Medium, so it sucks that Who never truly got some stellar Original animated Work (Missing Episodes Animations don’t count here in this context!!)
Oh well, at least there is still Dream Land…
Dreamland is rated far too low. I loved it as a kid
I am a bit mixed on it, the Animation and the Voice Delivery of some Guest Characters is really rough, but it’s honestly better than Planet of the Dead, which released around a similar Time, I think? But yeah it’s definitely rated too low!
From what I’ve read on here, it is better if you know the context of the rest of Time Lord Victorious, at least according to @Tian IIRC.
It is better in context. But still far from perfect.
I was a bit underwhelmed by both Dreamland and Planet Of The Dead to be honest. They both have brilliant premises, but don’t make full use of them.
Perhaps, honestly, my Issues come more down to other Things rather than its connections to TLV (while that Event sounds interesting, I must admit it’s a bit too huge for my liking, so I probably won’t attempt it for a while ). I am sure I’d appreciate it slightly more with more Context, but really I doubt it would change too drastically for it to be done so soon.
That’s fair, I personally didn’t like Planet of the Dead at all, Dreamland I think would be much better if its animation and some of its stiff voice delivery wasn’t there, far from perfect but for the Story it wants to tell much better than people give it credit for, but that’s a different Topic entirely.
Yeah, the animation is poor. You can tell it was made on the cheap.
Watched this in full this morning, not quite sure what to think
On the one hand it was very ambitious and a great use of the Daleks cunning and uncaring nature, and the visuals were very cool
On the other hand I didn’t really know what was going on, the plot itself wasn’t too interesting and seemed to jump around a lot
It was a decent little series however, I had fun watching it so a solid 7/10 all round
