Stranded is between Series 6 (GAU) and Series 7 (AU)
…well, technically I think it’s in the middle of AU, but not sure, havent’ added it to the timeline yet

Ah, but the Zoom quizzes still happened, remember? Andy beat The Doctor in a Zoom quiz, never living that down.
True true, It’ll go on my Torchwood Timeline, but I think in terms of discussion, it’s outside the scope of this thread specifically
There really should be a place to discuss it from a Torchwood perspective; it’s got Torchwood characters in it and has important developments for a Torchwood lead.
Feel free to create a topic
Seconding Shauny, seems like a great idea for a seperate thread if you want to make one!
(and haven’t already, I’ve got a lot to catch up on lmao
In my head AU is quite strongly post-Covid, but I’m not sure. I’m mostly thinking of A Postcard from Mr Colchester, and it’s been a while since I listened to that or any of AU.
I wanted to do a major listen of Torchwood series 5-7, but I’ve still not bought Aliens and God and they’re quite a lot of money. Might do an AU relisten beforehand! I enjoyed that series an awful lot.
The vast majority of AU is post-Covid, but there’s a few stories that aren’t
Thoughts and Prayers (the end of GAU) is implied to be early-mid 2019
Colin Alone is “A tough few months” after Thoughts and Prayers, so probably also 2019, especially with Colin’s working in an office, Aliens Next Door is set after At Her Majesty’s Pleasure, and Thoughts and Prayers was “last year”, and in Misty Eyes Gwen and Rhys only have one child, Anwen, setting it before Revolution of the Daleks which is 1-3rd January 2021
Everything else though (chronologically starting with Moderation) is in 2022-2023
Oh, also authorial intent puts The Red List in Early 2022, but that’s not part of AU itself
I didn’t even remember this! BF and their twisted timelines!
And this is the sort of canon-welding I absolutely love. For sure Chibnall and Goss/Foley were not collaborating on details like these and yet it’s lovely to imagine all of Who and Torchwood fitting together like this!
I think it has to be because it’s in line with The Red List.
Doing it now. The thread for Doctor Who stuff from Torchwood perspective.
Link here: Doctor Who's Stranded from a Torchwood perspective (and Rani Takes On The World, etc)
Listened today to The Green Life– quite a fun story but not a favourite. The points it’s making about capitalism and environmental damage are nowhere near as strong as The Green Death.
I especially wished it had pushed further with the latter. Environmentalism is even more of a necessity now than it was in the 70s and it was a shame this story kind of dropped that. That being said, Insect protein is the future!
(NB– I was a bit confused by the Discuss link for The Green Life taking me here. I suppose it makes sense if it takes place chronologically with TSC, but it just feels a bit odd given that this thread is mostly used to discuss the boxsets. Don’t know if anyone else has thoughts on this!)
We still don’t have a name for that other kid, and I’m hoping we don’t for a while cuz I got a fanfic idea lol
Yeah, not to Doctor Who things up, but other Jo sets have been weirdly tame about the environmentalism. Even the IWD ones. Maybe I’m imagining things.
anyway, back to torchwood, (torchwood theme plays)
Finally felt in the right mood to listen to Orr. It was pretty good! I am enjoying what I’ve heard of Aliens Among Us so far, though nothing’s gripped me enough to up my pace yet tbh
Hell yeah, finally got to meet Gender:tm: incarnate!
But also yeah, that’s fair
They’re really cool, don’t get me wrong! Excited to see where things go with them from here!
…The shapeshifting sound effect is a bit gross though
Series 5 is on sale!!
