CBeebies Doctor Who animated series in the works

I like children’s shows so this could potentially be up my alley depending on what it’s about, how it’s presented, and the animation style (I don’t like the one used for the missing episodes). If they included past Doctors that would be even better (and by that, I mean Six :+1:).

The Gallifrey Academy idea might be fun. Young timelords at school, with occasional cameos from one of the Doctor Whos. Maybe take an idea from Trek, where villains have become allies? Cyberkid exchange student?

I really want them to get Colin on board (as the Doctor or some other important character, not a cameo) because I have always been in love with the idea of Six/Colin being in children’s shows. Colin was in Famous Five, but he was also an English teacher in an old Children’s Channel show whose episodes are sadly lost (at least in this point in time). That is devastating to me. If they get him on the cast list for this animated show that would be spectacular. Most of the fanfic crossovers I write are Six (and sometimes Peri) being integrated in the world of my favorite children’s shows.

I think this will be a really fun show! Young Jedi Adventures is a lot of fun, and what I really hope we get to see is different Doctors solving different problems as well as the different Doctors interacting with different companions. Like put Thirteen with Victoria and/or Jamie, Nine with Turlough. Mix it up!

The Classic actors who work for BF already have recording equipment for voice acting. It would be a wasted opportunity to not use them.

I actually really like this as an idea, especially because it allows the live-action show to pitch itself to a slightly older audience

100% agreed on this

(mentioning Capaldi for the 12 character limit)

Maybe, as NyssaUnbound suggests, it would be an opportunity to make Doctor Who proper a little more grown up. Not like, adult programming, Doctor Who should stay a family show, but still a little more mature would be nice. I think Doctor Who is at its best when it’s something the kids get that rush of being maybe something they feel is a bit more grown up, something they should be watching “behind the sofa.” Allow this new show to cater more to the younger kid crowd, and let Doctor Who proper get the older kids again with a slightly more mature show.

Love this animation style and think it’d work well! It’s a video clip so I can’t send it outwith the link unfortunately

I wish we had a thinking reaction, so I’ll just write it instead.

 I don’t know how I feel about that particular example. It looks caricature-like, which I’m not a fan of.

Given that the BBC are accepting pitches from production companies, im curious what will happen.

We could either get a Bluey-like show, or a simple Peppa Pig esq show.

Personally I think having a time-travel show for young kids could really be great at teaching kids about history at a very simple level. Just need to hope a talented production company are intrested.

I would get behind an educational show. If not history, I could also see them going the science route a la Little Einsteins (“we’re going on a trip in our favorite rocket ship…”) or Sid the Science Kid. Like it or not, everyone’s focus is on STEM these days and DW is a perfect tool to get children thinking about the hard sciences.

I’m glad they’re doing this tbh.

The main age demographic watching the show are people who grew up with it, not young children. Even reading the old Doctor Who magazines, they were littered with children who loved the show, in their cosplays and everything.

We also live in an age where (imo) children’s TV isn’t focused on enough. Easier for them to go watch “brainrot” content than something regulated, and reviewed to actually benefit them.
