Biggest rise/fall in quality between stories

Still the second best season of TW

Totally agree here :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

For me it’s the rollercoaster ride from a great “The Waters of Mars” to the abysmal[1] “The End of Time” to the best opening story ever in “The Eleventh Hour”.

Narrative whiplash!

  1. do I need to pay @Jamie royalties here? :thinking::wink: ↩︎

It has been some time since you last had a go at End of Time. I almost feel a bit nostalgic :joy:

City of Death to Creature from the Pit too. I haven’t seen Creature from the Pit but following City of Death is a fall no matter what you are

I rate them kind of similar.

Fair enough! I was speaking in jest anyway because I just love CoD

This topic made me think of it again!
Grrr…
I don’t want to think about it!

And the title makes no sense! The Time Lords are working on the exact opposite with their plan of Gallifrey taking over Earth[1] - they want to avoid an end of time right?

Putting Timothy Dalton in Doctor Who and putting him in this piece of methane buildup from Space Babies!

And the flippin’ potions man!

And X-ray, lightning jumpy, blondy, cannibal Master

And the opening monologue about “baaad dweams”

And the mystery woman!

And the rich douche bag father/daughter combo that are completely superfluous to the story and just there - having Donna buy Wilf a book about some billionaire does not a backstory make!

And the Doctor whining at Wilf!

And the “I don’t want to go” - well I bloody want you to mate

And the unending unearned goodbye tour!

Martha and Mickey! Why??? And why is Martha suddenly some sort of military mercenary?

Aaarrghghhhhhhhhhhh!!!

  1. maybe, I’ve no real idea what spittle Rassilon’s plan really is… ↩︎

But at least it has Wilf as an indisputable companion!

Even as an EoT hater, I’ll hand it to Wilf. He carries that whole two hours all on his own (well, him and June Whitfield). I haven’t rewatched it in a while (and considering how it seems to just get worse for me each time I do, I don’t plan on it) but I get tempted every so often just to see Wilf’s shining moment.

Oh I absolutely love Wilf and and Doctor in it, especially the scenes where Doctor says he would be proud to have Wilf as his father, or the Doctor’s breakdown over saving Wilf. Those two alone make the episode worth re-watching again and again (not enough to raise the rating though )

You know I don’t really get what’s so amazing about Wilf. By no means do I dislike him, but in his stories he’s just sort of… there. And everyone raves about him, regardless of whether or not they count him as a companion, or whether or not they like TEOT overall. But I just don’t see what makes his character so interesting.

Bernard Cribbins.

Thank you for coming to my TED talk.

I think someone needs to head over to the controversial opinion thread…

It is interesting because that is how I feel about Romana

If Bernard Cribbins alone is enough to make a character so great, does that mean the manager guy in horror of glam rock is also amazing, or his character in the dalek movie?
