Big Finish Release Schedule

UPDATE:

Louise Jameson, Lalla Ward and Richard Armitage return among the cast of Gallifrey: War Room: Loyalties, a brand-new box set of full-cast audio drama due for release June 2026.

As the Time War rages, another battle takes place in the War Room – for Gallifrey’s soul…

As Rassilon tries to control the narrative of the Time War at home, the Cardinals fight to prove their loyalty. Out amid the conflict, the Resistance struggles to make a difference, and Gallifrey’s most faithful warriors face the ultimate challenge.

The Time Lords continue their great war against the Daleks, and deal with infighting among themselves, in four brand-new full-cast audio adventures.

Following on from the first two Gallifrey: War Room box sets, 2022’s Allegiance and 2023’s Manouevres, the upcoming Loyalties returns to the heart of the action.

In this box set of Time War intrigue, Lalla Ward and Louise Jameson return as Romana and Leela, the Doctor’s former companions now fighting on Gallifrey’s side. And Richard Armitage – the award-winning actor known for The Hobbit, Spooks, and more – is back as Rassilon, the legendary Time Lord resurrected to lead his race to victory, whatever the cost.

The ensemble cast also includes Ken Bones as the General, Carolyn Pickles as Cardinal Ollistra, Chris Jarman as Cardinal Rasmus, Beth Chalmers as Commander Veklin, Seán Carlsen as Narvin, and Faith Omole as Cresta.

The Worlds of Doctor Who – Gallifrey: War Room: Loyalties is now available to pre-order for just £19.99 (download to own) or £24.99 (download to own + collector’s edition CD box set), exclusively here. Please note: the collector’s edition CD box set is strictly limited to 1,000 copies and will not be re-pressed.

The four Gallifreyan tales are:

Propaganda by Georgia Cook

With unrest brewing in Low Town, Rassilon demands the immediate location and destruction of a rogue broadcast mocking his name.

With Rasmus, the General and Cresta trapped in the Drylands, and riots bubbling on the streets, Ollistra attempts to steer a course to cement her rule over the War Room.

Resistance by Katharine Armitage

Eris is trying to hold a crumbling Resistance together; Ollistra is trying to tear it apart. Both have audacious plans to ensure the victory of their side and everyone else has to choose where their loyalties truly lie.

Hope by Fio Tretheway

Leela has a job to do, and she cannot do it alone, and so she enlists the most unlikely of allies for the task. Time is not on her side, and she must succeed, or else all of them are doomed.

Eye for an Eye by Matt Fitton

Cardinal Ollistra must serve the will of Rassilon and see the Resistance destroyed. But the Resistance is already falling apart.

With Leela and Rasmus missing, the General and Veklin are given a mission that neither relishes. Loyalties will be tested, and vengeance will be had.

Producer Heather Challands said: “It is such a thrill to be able to return to the War Room. In the early stages of the Time War, morality is still all to play for and the future of Gallifrey is far from certain. In these four episodes, we have a few surprises up our sleeves as every player seems to make their move, and some demand a high price to be paid.

“What can I promise you? Lava slugs, nightmare bunkers, a chess game, a test of loyalty, and an ending you won’t see coming. Oh, and the return of a little-known character called Romana… but what has she been up to? Now that would be telling.”

Loyalties is the third box set in the Gallifrey: War Room series. Big Finish listeners can save money by purchasing it in a multibuy bundle of four box sets, with the fourth (Title TBC) due for release in January 2027, for just £78 (download to own) or £88 (download to own + collector’s edition CD box set).

All the above prices (including pre-order and multibuy bundle discounts) are fixed for a limited time only and guaranteed no later than 31 August 2026.

ADDED:

The acclaimed actress joins Paul McGann and Nicola Walker in Planet Krynoid: Survivors, a brand-new box set of audio drama from The Worlds of Doctor Who, due June 2026.

Tamsin Greig, the star of numerous popular TV comedy series including Green Wing, Black Books, and Friday Night Dinner, as well as the 2005 Doctor Who episode The Long Game, is set to return to the Whoniverse soon, in the terrifying Planet Krynoid: Survivors.

This full-cast audio drama box set, following on from 2025’s Nightfall, continues the story of Sunlight, a civilisation devastated by the carnivorous plants known as the Krynoids, which first appeared in the 1976 Doctor Who story The Seeds of Doom.

In three brand-new stories, the remaining residents of Sunlight fight for their survival as the Krynoid threat continues, and the truth of what really happened to Sunlight’s first colony is revealed, leading to an ultimate showdown between man and plant.

And, in the box set’s second episode, Greig joins the action as Amesus Vail, the overworked overseer of Station One, as this safe haven turns into a base under siege. She’s joined by two visiting travellers – the Eighth Doctor (Paul McGann) and Liv Chenka (Nicola Walker).

On making her Big Finish debut, Tamsin Greig said: “This is my first audio Doctor Who – it’s amazing how it’s taken so long for Big Finish to ask me! Amesus Vail is on this distant planet and is pretty stressed with the isolation, the abandonment and having to keep this show on the road. If you go green on this planet, you’re dying – it’s a lovely inversion!”

The Worlds of Doctor Who – Planet Krynoid: Survivors is now available to pre-order for just £19.99 (download to own) or £29.99 (download to own + collector’s edition 3-disc CD box set), exclusively here. Please note: the collector’s edition CD box set is strictly limited to 1,000 copies and will not be repressed.

The three episodes in this box set are:

The Hunt by Jonathan S Powell

Blackmailed by the unscrupulous Raynor Cross, Sunlight survivors Tiro Hart and Letty Hodan must battle the icy remains of the life they left behind. But they are not the only ones with their sights set on a pod.

The Harrow by Georgia Cook

Nobody knows what really happened to Station One, Verdana’s first, doomed colony. But after materialising in the path of a Krynoid, the Doctor and Liv are about to find out.

The Harvest by Jonathan Morris

When a band of survivors reach a mysterious settlement, they are promised food, shelter and harmony. But deliverance in Greenhaven comes at a price – and Father Nature is ready to collect.

Planet Krynoid: Survivors features several returning cast members from Nightfall, including Nye Occomore, Em Prendergast, Melody Chikakane Brown, Ian Conningham and Sarah Whitehouse. And, new cast members include Gina Bellman (Coupling), Juliet Aubrey (Primeval), Karl Theobald (Green Wing), Simon Kane (Good Omens), and Angus Wright (Peep Show), with further names to be announced.

Producer, director and writer Jonathan S Powell said: “I’m thrilled to be back on the Krynoid homeworld for three more terrifying tales set soon after the events of Nightfall. Our scattered survivors are running on borrowed time in the present, while the Doctor and Liv battle another Krynoid incursion a hundred years before.

“I’m especially delighted with the performers we’ve brought into the series this time around, not least the enormously talented Tamsin Greig in her Big Finish debut as Overseer Amesus Vail. Alongside Tamsin and our returning survivors, listeners will be treated to star turns from Karl Theobald and Simon Kane as a pair of deluded monster hunters, Juliet Aubrey as a ruthless executive, and Angus Wright as a fanatical plant-loving priest, who harks back more than a little to Harrison Chase. That’s not to mention Paul McGann and Nicola Walker as the always dependable Eighth Doctor and Liv.

“There’s so much to enjoy here, and more story yet to be told – if anyone survives, that is.”

The global multi-platform story begins 25 June, and the Fugitive Doctor is at the centre of it all!

A major new Doctor Who story event is here, and this time, the threat is closer than ever. Following its initial reveal last year, BBC Studios unveiled new rollout details, story elements and artwork for Circuit Breaker.

Doctor Who – Circuit Breaker launches on 25 June 2026, kicking off an epic, multi-platform adventure unfolding this summer across audio, publishing, gaming and digital, bringing fans together for one connected, must-follow Whoniverse event.

The story event will see a single, escalating crisis play out across multiple formats, with each chapter unlocking new clues, new dangers… and a new side to the Time Lord.

Circuit Breaker brings together a range of longstanding Doctor Who partners including Titan Comics, Doctor Who Magazine, BBC Audiobooks, East Side Games, Puffin, Penguin Random House and Big Finish, each delivering a unique chapter of the story across the summer.

Fans can follow every twist via the Doctor Who website and official channels and The Whoniverse Show, with the first chapter of the epic story launching on the in-universe UNIT website on 25 June.

Big Finish’s contributions comprise the epic, two-hour series finale, Circuit Breaker: Full Circuit (a full-cast audio drama) and two Short Trips stories released together as Short Circuits. Both are available to pre-order now, exclusively here.

In the depths of UNIT’s most secure facility, the Black Archive, familiar objects have been pulled through time and space surrounded with a dangerous energy signature threatening to tear reality apart. With time running out, newly appointed Head of the Black Archive, Osgood (Ingrid Oliver) and her assistant Andrew (Omari Douglas) turn to the only person who can help… the Doctor (Jo Martin).

This is no ordinary crisis, and not the Time Lord they are familiar with. As the Doctor confronts her most infamous enemies such as the Daleks, Cybermen, Sontarans and a rogue Weeping Angel, she is forced to complete a mission with an insidious presence lurking in the shadows.

Secrets begin to surface, and trust between UNIT and the Doctor begins to erode as those who idolise her start to question if she really is the Time Lord they thought they knew…
