So, now they’ve announced the final 8DA collected series, what next for 8 and Lucie?
I think it is download-only which makes me wonder what the point is?
I hate that they keep bundling these and going NEW LUCIE it gets me foolishly excited every time unfortunately I think we’re not going to get more Lucie any time soon because Sheridan Smith is so busy all the time
Just so its easier for people to get into those stories.
I doubt much to be honest? They ended ages ago, but I’d be open to more ‘Further Adventures’ style sets!
Lucie Miller volume 2 is a pipedream but I can have hope
Certainly way more appealing being sold as one big set, and with a modern, improved artwork!
Much like The Comic Strip Adaptations, they were being optimistic labelling it as Volume 1
But spoiler:
Isn’t she dead? Unless it’s just another ‘missing adventure’ style I don’t think we can do this.
Yep, it’ll be another ‘Further Adventures’ style if they do more. I’d imagine they’d want to eventually do another. Sometimes BF have large gaps between ranges so its not impossible but ar Sheridan’s rather busy a lot of the time.
I hope they do another Novel Adaptation after Goth Opera’s success
Eight threatened one day he’d go back for her, but I doubt anyone who listened to the era would actually want that. Because of how good the finale is.
Anyway, in this context I think they meant volume 2 of the Further Adventures
I mean, RTD brought Donna back…
Never say never
(And it was a bad idea)
(I very much agree)
I don’t agree. It was lovely to see Donna again.
I hope this gets a proper follow up…I miss Lucie
It’s not really a question of that for me. It’d be lovely to hear Lucie again. It is, whenever we go way back then. But all things have an end, and some of them work better narratively if they are final. New Who in special has a problem sticking to its guns.
The stakes with Donna’s ending were pretty clear. If she comes back and remember, I want her to die. Because that would be true to her story.
That’s the same reason I disliked the idea of River adventures post Library or making Cass a companion (it’s an antithesis of her character).
There is an avenue of interesting narrative you could do bringing Lucie back, but I don’t think the potential is worth it. Just as I don’t think it was worth it with Donna (as it was done).
I also enjoyed seeing Catherine Tate again, she’s great as Donna.
I just feel like it totally ruins the tragedy of her original ending… And then the way this terrible metacrisis crisis ultimately is resolved is just “letting it go” - it feels like such a non-solution to me.
