An Eighth Doctor Adventures adventure

I’m by no means an expert on the EDAs but those that you’ve listen, I’m pretty sure you could jump into just fine. Vampire Science and The Scarlet Empress were phenomenally good! I’d also add Demontage to that list, I had fun with that one recently

I’m tempted to just point you to this list:

Of the ones you listed, Vampire Science, Alien Bodies, Seeing I, The Scarlet Empress are all fine to jump into, no problem. Seeing I is clearly picking up on a previously established thread, but you should be able to pick everything up pretty quickly with no problem

The Year of Intelligent Tigers is 99% standalone, and that remaining 1% is just the context of the “new normal” that every book after The Ancestor Cell needs. I’m told that some people go into this one without that context and are fine, but it still feels weird for me to reccomend it without at least mentioning it. I also want to take the opprotunity here to mention The Turing Test, The City of the Dead, and Grimm Reality as a few other favorites from this era that just need that 1% context

The Crooked World, Mad Dogs and Englishmen, and Camera Obscura all deal with a story arc set up in The Adventuress of Henrietta Street. With the first 2, it’s tangential and you could probably get by without it, but Camera Obscura is explicitly a “season finale” and resolves the arc

For Faction Paradox, you probably want Alien Bodies, The Scarlet Empress, Unnatural History, Interference, The Blue Angel, The Taking of Planet 5, Shadows of Avalon, The Ancestor Cell, The Adventuress of Henrietta Street, and The Gallifrey Chronicles

Dominion: This was a very good book. I didn’t like it. It was very well written and I loved the mechanics of the Dominion world, that was the best bit for me. But the rest of it, bleh. I guess I just didn’t vibe with it. I didn’t really like how any of the characters were written, especially the women - I thought all their voices were squashed very flat and everyone came out with the same ‘jolly good, rather wonderful’ kind of speech patterns which was tiresome.

I’m not sure about this one at all. As I say, objectively it was a good book. But I don’t think it was for me

Finished ‘The Blue Angel’. I’m so conflicted. I was really liking it until about 80%. But then all the threads that I thought would converge into some sort of ending… didn’t. That being said, there is another book inside this book which is just about the Obverse Doctor, Fitz, Compasion and not!Sarah Jane, and that was absolutely incredible, even the weird, unexplained things. Hence my frustration when it just ended. Felt like it was book 1 of at least a duology, but there’s no book 2. I’m gonna write a proper review after I digest it a bit more, but this was my general feeling.

Thanks for the explanations! There are a lot of EDAs, so it felt a bit overwhelming at first, but I’m really excited to start

You know what, ignore past me. The more I think about this book the more I like it. Here’s my stupidly long review where I try to make sense of things. If anyone has read it, I’d love to know where you stand on… well, all the stuff that goes down in this one.

I love this book! Your interpretation on what the Obverse!AU actually is is exactly the same as mine. Compassion is also incredible, easily one of my favorite companions, and if you haven’t been spoiled on where her story goes, I evny you. You’re in for a wild ride!

I only know something to do with the (a?) TARDIS happens, nothing more. I’m very excited for a new TARDIS team, finally.

Yeah, Susan (played by Carole Ann Ford) who traveled with him in his first ten TV stories. In the audios from Big Finish, the Eighth Doctor and Susan also meet, though under different circumstances. In the audios, Susan has a son named Alex (who happens to be played by Paul McGann’s real life son Jake, or Sonny as he goes by these days).

The way that you are discovering these things that are so-called ‘basic facts’ of the series is truly delightful to me and I mean that so sincerely. I absolutely love watching your journey!!

LOL! I know, I’m like the quintessential “newbie”!!! It’s pretty fun, right now Sam is still “lost”.

Thank you for enjoying my journey with me!

Finished Revolution Man, overall enjoyed it but this was a grim book. Fitz got brainwashed and the doctor straight out killed someone Also a bit weird to give Fitz a two year timeskip just three stories in
