Pretty Exciting!

Pretty Exciting!
And this is the incarnation played by Roger Delgado who was The Master in the Pertwee era, and arguably the best Master until Missy (Michelle Gomez) or possibly the War Master (Derek Jacobi).
You can’t go around influencing the new fans with your (maybe correct) opinions!
Are you saying that Ainley, Roberts and Simm are better than Delgado?
I have to admit I am really enjoying “Legacy of the Daleks”.
That was very cool when DW says, “he likes to refer to himself as ‘The Master’”, regarding Estro. And later he actually calls him “The Master”.
That was a cool moment, it was like DW calling him “The Master” officially made it real! He became the Master!
Very fun!!!
No, but Crispy and McQueen are!
Despite slowing down on my Reading, I actually finished two early EDAs recently (yes, I am trying to read more of the early Stuff to get a clear Picture of Sam and be less jumpy hopefully!)
Option Lock is what I describe a competent Book, which is serviceable on all circles. Really I don’t have anything to complain, and yet I’d rate it a 2.5, because frankly it’s very “Middling”. Don’t get me wrong, I thought the Book was solid, but sadly not one that really made me want to go and re-read it like some of the best EDAs did. And frankly it’s just a bit unremarkable.
The Bodysnatchers was much better, honestly. I expected it to be also a middling one, but actually no, it’s very solid. Does it have Issues? Yes. And it’s a Step-down compared to Vampire Science but reading it a bit out of order probably helped my Appreciation for it. How it uses Zygons was fun, I thought. Not a perfect Book by far, but an enjoyable Read nonetheless.
Debatable. And I was mostly stating generally and was just going off of TV incarnations for simplicity. I still find Delgado to be the best of the Classic Series Television incarnations. Ainley’s fine, Roberts is camp but that works in the TV Movie. The little I’ve heard of Roberts’ Master on audio does elevate him somewhat. Crispy is really good, but with only two TV appearances, Delgado still outshines him. On audio, it’s a toss up for me as to whether Beevers is better than Delgado. MacQueen is great, but audio-only and thus not as well known. Jacobi is amazing, but gets so little screen-time actually as the Master so most of his appeal is on audio. I like Simm, and Dawahn, but Missy knocks it out of the park as far as modern Masters go. Anyway, we do have a dedicated poll if @JohnnyRockets is interested in following this rabbit hole deeper: Favourite Incarnation of the Master (In Performed Media).
I think this is the first time we disagree, Random! ‘Option Lock’ was much better than ‘Bodysnatchers’ for me ahahah. I think the order we read them in colored things. I thought ‘Option Lock’ was nice because it’s a fresh and simpler Earth story after a several very spacey scifi books. Plus, Sam is well characterized and gets to do a lot in the plot, after being a pretty bland character in the past books.
That’s very fair, honestly. I do agree if anything ‘Option Lock’ is a much better Book for Sam. Maybe I ended up enjoying the latter more due to its Reputation, I mean I expected to be decent at best, so I was surprised when I read it and got something more out of it! That said, I don’t think ‘Option Lock’ is bad at all, if anything it would probably end up in the Middle of my EDA Ranking whenever I finish them!
I finished “Legacy of the Daleks” last night and honestly loved all aspects of it!
One of my favorites for sure!
Tonight onto “Dreamstone Moon”! (interesting title, LOL!)
Dreamstone Moon is extremely underrated, I think! One of my favourites from the early books. I think the worldbuilding is excellent.
Oh great!
I was concerned by the title that it might be a dud, but now I’m looking forward to it!
Thank you!
I also enjoyed Dreamstone Moon more than it seems most people do, it certainly wasn’t one if the horribly boring ones!
Get thee behind me, Delta… I’m super tempted.
If I didn’t own such a good chunk of them, I’d be tempted as well, oh well guess the Hunt is still on for me Good luck mandy if you are bidding for it!
Heartbreaking news: they don’t let me bid because I’m in Germany. Curses!!!
The EDAs are always so expensive
I’ll never be able to get into this range (and most of the other ‘Classic Who’ books)
That sucks! I am sorry to hear that, maybe one day
I wouldn’t necessarily call them expensive, most of them I did bring for a good Price with good condition. The Problem arrives mainly with a few Outliers which make collecting them such a Chore to get through, although you are right getting a complete Set does seem impossible. Maybe somehow you will get around to it hopefully!
