Finally! Another person who was bored from Andor and liked The Book of Boba Fett! I didn’t give the entirety of Andor a go, but felt it was so boring. Boba Fett is a character I’ve never got the hype for but the series was far from what people call it. The Acolyte is another that gets so much hate (we all know why) and it was sooo refreshing I loved it.
I’m hyped for Andor Season 2, the best piece of Star Wars media since Disney. (#sorrynotsorry)
The trailer was Meh, but it had a Steve Earle song, and showed what I wanted to see from a lead in to Rogue One.
After that concludes, I will be probably putting Star Wars to one side for a while.
I fell off Star Wars after Episode 9, but my trip to Disneyland made me want to get into it a bit again. What has been good and what has been bad since then?
Well the animated series (Clone Wars, Bad Batch, etc.) are known to be very good.
I thought The Mandalorian was alright.
To be honest I haven’t really watched much Star Wars recently.
From what I’ve seen, the ‘Disney+’ Era of Star Wars has been very hit-and-miss with either you love it or hate it Shows.
I do always recommend Andor, since I think it’s brilliant and while striking visually, it’s more dialogue-heavy (brilliant dialogues, mind you), so that’s a Thing to consider.
Haven’t much watched of Skelton Crew yet, and I really need to get around to it, but it has a fun 80s Adventure Spirit to it similarly to E.T or the Goonies.
Didn’t really get on with Kenobi as much as I wanted to, but hey if you like the Prequels or McGregor in the Role it might be worth giving a shoot.
Of course the Mandalorian exists which I really enjoyed in its first two Season, I don’t recommend its third, as it feels very ‘Fillerish’, season two might also put you away since, and I don’t wanna spoil, it does get very fan-servicey at times, but I think it was done quite well for the most Part.
There is of course also something like the Acolyte or Ashoka, but can’t comment either, only know that if you want to enjoy the latter you better know The Clone Wars/Rebels, since it relies on it quite heavily.
There is also the 2D animated Show Clone Wars without the ‘the’, which is pretty short and visually striking, I am pretty sure it’s on Disney+ as well so I recommend this if you wanna get something much more actiony!
Thanks. I think that Andor or The Mandalorian sounds like something for me. Might start with one of those.
Lovely choices! Keep ups updated how you find them!
These are my “quick” thoughts on some of the D+ shows.
Clone Wars: Very good, quite long compared to other series, starts out ok but gets a lot better towards the end.
Bad Batch: Sequel to Clone Wars, it’s good, if you like CW, you’ll like Bad Batch.
Rebels: I have the controversial opinion that Rebels is better than Clone Wars , very good, most people’s first taste of Grand Admiral Thrawn.
Ashoka: Contrary to what the name would imply, it is actually a sequel to Rebels, and it’s ok, not great, but ok, has David Tennant in it.
Rogue One: Movie, takes place right before A New Hope, has Andor in it, takes place after Andor, but imo I would watch it before Andor as it released first.
Andor: The best thing Disney has ever made for Star Wars, beats a lot of the pre-Disney Star Wars stuff as well, it’s just that good.
Mandalorian: Very good season 1, pretty good season 2, ok season 3. To be completely honestly with you the show has kind of dragged out, still worth watching though, however there is this really annoying thing that maeks watching post S2 annoying and its…
The Book of Boba Fett: Phew, do I really not like this show, it’s just so eh, the best parts of the show is when for some reason it turns into the Mandalorian and provides critical story development for that show, very unfortunate.
There is also the original, 2003 version of the Clone Wars which isn’t very long, and has some pretty cool moments in it, if you want something unique
.
I’d honestly agree with this, if it wasn’t for the Animation, which I like what they are going for with trying to recreate the original Concept Art in Look, but doesn’t translate so well into 3D Animation, I’d say it’s superior in most aspects. Obviously, both pretty great shows with their Pros and Cons, but you get my Point.
Heavily agree! Really looking forward to its second Season!
Andor it is!
I know @deltaandthebannermen loves Andor too
But his taste is more questionable
I really like Mando but idk, feels so oversaturated now. I really hated TROS and has left a sour taste in my mouth since. I also hate how every SW project rn is set in the past, usually around the same era (gap between 6-7) which is just boring, its just done for the fans. Too much fan service in this franchise rn IMO.
The Acolyte was great regardless of what the right-wing folks say.
I really should get around to watching the Acolyte, it’s nice to get more stuff set during the High Republic era
Defo, it was one of the major draws for me that it wasn’t set in the 6-7 gap. I loved it, the characters and storyline was really great and I’ll forever be so mad we won’t get a S2. I’d imagine they’ll do a comic of some sorts, but its not the same.
Can’t speak on Acolyte, but honestly I think the biggest Issues I have with current Star Wars is 1) the amount of Shows 2) I miss when it felt like event cinema, like as much as I enjoyed some newer shows (mainly Andor and the bits I have seen from Skelton Crew), I do really want a new Film. I know there are few announced but let’s be honest, besides the Mandalorian Film, there is a high Chance we won’t be getting the others because most announced Star Wars Film got canned real quick lately . I do want to be optimistic since I think there is Potential in most of them, but ehh I am not holding out my Hopes too much.
I also think having more larger gaps between Projects would be also good, I don’t think it was the smartest Move to release like over 8 Shows in the Span of 5 Years.
Now all we need is a show set during the Old Republic era, featuring Revan perhaps hmmmmmm .
(Also maybe get the KOTOR remake out of development hell please )
There was far too much, I just couldn’t keep up and that’s saying something as I am relatively well kept up with Marvel. I agree that it just doesn’t feel like an event anymore. I think Mando/Grogu film is supposed to be an end to the Mandoverse era which is all the 6-7 gap stuff, but whether thats true or not …
I’m excited for the Rey film, but whether that gets cancelled too like every other SW film
That is something else that I have lost. Don’t know if I will ever come back to that.
I heard that the Film was delayed in favor of doing basically its fourth Season as a Film, but I could be wrong.
Oh, I do love to see it, I am really not sold on the Sequels for the most Part, but I think Ridley is a great Actor, and I’d love to see her getting another Star Wars Film. And please this time just move forward rather than try and ‘fix’ stuff from the previous Entry. Yes, I am looking at you TROS
