20 Years of Doctor Who (2005-2025)

I remember getting into Doctor Who when the revival was only 10 years old, and here I am 10 years later!

I envy you UK people so much! Watching dw on tv! Trailers and everything! There aren’t many programs home that interest me personally  I barely watch tv now and when I do it’s always dw or something I picked up here or on Tumblr and of course it’d be in English

Btw try this Footnote function shauny made more accessible a while ago[1]

It looks like this when editing

Honest answer - probably not but it’s not something I waste time thinking about.

I mean, I’m iffy on whether the country I live in, or, indeed, civilization as a whole will last another 20 years, so…

Not in its current form. But I suspect it’ll keep going for as long as there’s a fanbase, however small or niche. Fans kept the spirit of the show alive in the 90s, with zines and books etc.

It will last as long as it lasts. Nothing we can really do about it other than providing viewership.

I think Doctor Who will last for another 20 years in one form or another, even if we have to go through wilderness era, I don’t believe Doctor Who will every truly be dead, but it will change to match the times.

Despite my more optimistic opinion, I think this is ultimately the most healthy outlook, enjoy the Doctor Who you have now.

I mean, it hasn’t gone anywhere! You can always watch it again, again and again!

I feel like I should, but I don’t really know how. I didn’t exactly prepare for this :joy: bad fan, I know!

Today marks 20 years since Rose first aired, breathing new life into the series and introducing it to a whole new audience. While there’s already a detailed episode discussion over at TV Club: Rose, let’s take a moment to reflect on Doctor Who since its revival.

What are your favorite moments from New Who? Do you have any special memories or experiences related to the show that you’d like to share?

Here’s to celebrating two decades of adventures in time and space—happy new birthday to the show we all love! :tada:

I said a lot earlier today over in the “what does doctor who mean to you chat” about my own childhood memories, so I’ll say that another special thing that comes to mind is when I was teaching film production at a summer camp to a group of 9-12 year olds, and they decided they wanted their short film to be a Top Gun/Among Us/Doctor Who crossover parody. If memory serves, it was called “Doctor Why and the Imposter at Bottom Gun.” My co-counselor and I had to quickly build them a TARDIS prop in like half an hour. Our supplies were just what was in the attic of the class building we were using, and we spent most of the time just trying to get enough coats of blue paint on it to keep the cardboard from showing through (it still does a bit), so that’s why it looks like that. The film turned out amazing though. I worked with nine groups of kids and they were probably my favorite (not that I had favorites).

The sign the kids taped to the door says “Totally Awesome Really Dope Imposter Slayer”

So when are we adding Doctor Why to TARDIS Guide? (I was so proud of my kiddos for learning how to use keyframing so quickly, they actually made the text move in time with the intro)

Did my topic a while ago and scheduled it and forgot it. But I merged the topics.
