The leak of Rose where the BBC was asking “where did you get the tape/disk?” not realizing it was leaked as a digital file on the internet was a few days ago 20 years ago too.

I recall first seeing the trailer after a repeat episode of The Munsters* on BBC2, and getting ridiculously excited by the shot of the spaceship crashing into Big Ben. Goodness, is that really twenty years ago… wow!

*Back in the 1960s, The Munsters used to follow Doctor Who on BBC1 (though I had to suffer through The Dick Van Dyke Show in between).

“They” being the abysmal right-wing tabloids? Yeah they did… I wouldn’t take any notice.

It’s getting cancelled every year! :mirror_ball:

Stop believing the speculation, rumors, and tabloid bs. Unless you directly hear from the BBC or Bad Wolf that it is, Doctor Who is not cancelled.

I got into the show in 2008 admittedly but it’s still wild to me it’s been 20 years since the revival started, wow!

I honestly think series 1 is one of my favourite series/seasons. Tons of nostalgia sure, but there’s so much good stuff in there too, so much unknown. Similar to why I like the First Doctor’s era too I guess. I rewatched the series 1 dvd’s so many times.

How lovely. 9-year-old me barely knew English at the time and had never heard of the show. So I don’t have the nostalgic connection to this, but it is a legendary trailer nonetheless!

Not a lot of shows can celebrate similar milestones these days!

I still give my dad a hard time for not telling me Doctor Who was back (I think in 2006, whenever Sci-Fi channel got it). My first episode of the modern series was World War Three.

Maybe he was just making sure it was still appropriate in the new version first. I was still only 9.

I was at university and it coming back really had a wonderful way of bringing certain people closer together. People of similar age having known each other almost 2 years without also realising we could have been talking about Doctor Who the whole time!

I’d really been the only kid at school who’d stayed loving it after it went away so not many of us remembered/cared for it so people my age never really got chatting about it because it never came up.

“Wait, you’ve liked Doctor Who this entire time too!?”

2005 was one of the very best years to be a fan I think and will be difficult to top.
