Inspired by the discussion about Morris Gibbons today, I decided to make a poll to find out who our favourite UNIT scientific advisor is. As we all know, UNIT likes to hire a person who knows everything about time, space and aliens. This person has usually been the Doctor, but there have been plenty of others as well.
So, who’s your favourite? Who would you like to see more of in the future, and who should be given a go at the title?
Note that I’ve included the Doctor as one entity for simplicity’s sake. Three and Four were the main ones, but Kate Lethbridge-Stewart later confirmed that the Doctor has always remained on UNIT’s payroll as their scientific advisor, so this could concern every post-Three incarnation.
The answer’s always going to be Osgood for me, but I must say I’m with @Tian and @sircarolyn, I wasn’t a fan of Morris in the finale, I think we could have spent more time with Rose or given the Vlinx more to do instead of introducing a rather annoying child genius.
Liz, the Doctor, and Osgood. Shirley is fun, but being in only one story makes her a little hard to judge. I’m firmly of the stance that Moris is both annoying and a terrible fit for UNIT (I don’t care how smart he is, that is a whole ass child and he shouldn’t have a job, especially one as dangerous as this).
Oooo, I don’t even know who half these people are. Osgood is by far and away my favourite of the scientific advisors, even if originally she was just a lovable fan insert at first. From what little of Liz I’ve scene (one day I’ll finish Classic) she knows here stuff and is a great addition to the show, it also helps that she gets a lot of screentime by virtue of S7 being heavily UNIT focused. The Doctor gets a pity 3rd place by being the only one left (sorry River), but hey, at least Kate gets to say he’s on the payroll.
