Why is something spoiler-marked in one place and not another?

On the page for https://tardis.guide/story/the-dying-breed/, @shauny has the location blurred for potential spoilers but then when the exact same location is stated in the Synopsis, it’s not blurred. Is there reason for this? I just feel like there’s no reason to blur it in the location field just to state it outright in the synopsis.

I don’t know exactly why it is marked as a spoiler location. But the synopsis doesn’t have a spoiler function.

I guess the location is spoilered by default because it might sometimes feature spoiler locations. The synopsis usually doesn’t.

Location is spoilered by default until you complete a story, but synopsis’ aren’t

I don’t blur synopsis because they are usually written in a way that would avoid spoilers.

For example a synopsis might be:

The Eighth Doctor visits London for a cup of tea.

But then in the “locations” we may have put:

London, Gallifrey

And it’s a big spoiler that Gallifrey is visited, because it turns out the tearoom he visits contains a portal straight to Rassilon’s bedroom, or something.

So the ‘locations’ can potentially have major spoilers in, but the synopsis won’t.

Does that make sense?

And as for “don’t bother blurring the location if it’s mentioned in the synopsis”, yes it theory that sounds like a very good idea but in practise the only way to really do that would be to manually check every. single. story.

No problem. I just found this particular one a bit odd and amusing that the location is blurred in one place and then right below it, it isn’t.

You say that like it’s a difficult task…

You say that like it isn’t! Oh, how are those spreadsheets doing?

Isn’t there a way to code the synopsis so it checks if a string is used in location so it blur it too?

I did one single class for programming at uni, so saying this as a complete total ignorant noob

I mean yeah there is but there are all kinds of edge cases and stuff I just don’t want to deal with right now.

Much easier to just always blur all locations.

They unblur once you’ve completed a story!

(That doesn’t happen straight away at the moment, you need to refresh, I’ll be updating that)
