who is your favorite nuwho master? is the main doctor they act alongside your favorite doctor as well?
im curious if people tend to prefer the master their favorite doctor acted alongside (or doctor their favorite master acted alongside)
Simm Master is my favorite, and the 10th Doctor is too

I think Missy is my favoriteā¦ twelve isnāt my very favorite Doctor, but I do love him, and I think his dynamic with Missy is particularly well-done. Honestly, I think fifteen is my favorite at this point, and he hasnāt seen the Master yet, so maybe if we get him with the Master Iāll have a new opinion.
I love the way Missy and Twelve bounce off each other. (Although my favourite New Who Master is Jacobi, heās not on the poll, so Missy definitely takes the cake. Sheās fabulous.)
Dhawan is definitely my favourite of the post-2005 Masters. Just felt like the Master - ridiculous plans, clear Doctor-envy, charming yet cruel and unhinged at the drop of a hat, Tissue Compression Eliminator enthusiast, big fan of disguises, dresses for the occasion, big fan of Doctor-cosplay.
Missy is great and works very well with Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman, I enjoyed the āwill-she-wonāt-she redemption arcā in series 10, but I must say I cheered mightily when Spyfall came around and we had a more āClassic Masterā once again.
On screen there is just not enough of Jacobiās Master to really join this poll for me (havenāt heard much of him on audio).
Simm is so not for me. Oh my Giddy Aunt were those drums a disservice to the entire character of the Master.
Missyās my favourite and her dynamic with twelve is excellent but heās my second favourite new who doctor. My favourite doctor is thirteen and dhawanās master is my second favorite.
Simm just does not work at all for me
Missy is my favourite. 12 isnāt my favourite but is very high on the list, and I think 12 & Missy was one of the best Doctor-Master pairings.
Whilst I agree it kinda changed the whole character of the Master and not in a good way, the way the drums were āA rhythm of four - the heartbeat of a Time Lord!ā was just so good and I think about that all the time, every time I hear the theme tune!
Overall, Missy is my favourite. But my favourite Doctor is the Tenth, or the Fourteenth.
I love Jacobi but he was only really the Master for about 5 minutes, and I enjoyed Simm but much preferred him in The Sound of Drums and The Doctor Falls to his appearance in The End of Time.
However, even though Missy isnāt with my favourite Doctor, I love the dynamic Capaldi and Gomez created during Series 10. Some of the best Doctor/Master stuff in the show.
War for me is my fave whilst 10th is far from my fave Doctor. I think heās such a good incarnation of the Master and works so well!! Iām so behind on his series.
Of the new who masters and doctors, missy and 12 are my favourites, dhawan and 13 are my next favourites, and simm and 10 are my least favourites! So yeah they completely match up with each other. The only anomaly is the war master who I thought was great in the brief time he got on tv (havenāt listened to his audios yet).
12/missy are my favourites because I just love the dynamic between them. Iām not especially obsessed with the master as a character overall, I prefer to look at each incarnation individually, so I found the whole vault arc extremely compelling. There are some scenes/lines with those two that make me insane, like āsheās the only person Iāve met whoās even remotely like meā (I think thatās how it goes??)
To say itās just a few minutes at the end of an average episode, the moments between 12 and Missy in The Eaters of Light are superlative.
Missy: I donāt even know why Iām crying. Why? Why do I keep doing that now? Doctor: I donāt know. Maybe youāre trying to impress me. Missy: Yes. Probably some devious plan. That sounds about right. Doctor: The alternative would be much worse. Missy: Really? Doctor: The alternative is that this is for real, and itās time for us to become friends again. Missy: Do you think so? (She reaches for him but he steps back. Pause, and then he takes her hands in his.) Doctor: I donāt know. Thatās the trouble with hope. Itās hard to resist. (He lets go and walks away. Another tear falls.)
Dhawan Master is my favourite, I would probably say that Missy is next because sheās absolutely hilarious, but the 11th Doctor is my favourite and they never interact

To answer the Question: Yeah. I do love Missy and I do love 12, so my Vote goes for them. Close second would be probably the Option with Dhawan and 13.
I do think a great Master needs to have a Doctor that I consider to be great, since in many ways there is some mirroring done with each pairing or more or less. If I donāt like one half that much, then I wouldnāt like the other Half that much either, which becomes apparent when looking at Simms Master, who doesnāt work for me in so many ways (featuring in some of my least liked RTD Stories, kinda overplays it way too much, doesnāt feel very commanding etc etc.)
