Who cares about the missing BBV audios?

Hi there

I’m the one who has catalogued most of the BBV audios that are currently live on the site.

There’s still more to do, but I’ve kind of left them untouched for a while and finding the motivation is hard

I’m hoping if I can get proof that people actually want them on the site, it will spur my brain into action.

So… if you’re one of the Guide users who has been terribly inconvenienced by my slackness, and is keenly awaiting the addition of BBV audios from some of these ranges:

Chaos Theory, Claudia Christian’s DARK LEGACIES, Dark Legacies, Dionus’s War, Dracula, Faction Paradox, Faction Paradox: Rebirth, H. P. Lovecraft, Hellscape, Maker’s Wish, Sherlock Holmes, StokerVerse, The Faction Paradox Protocols, The Makers, The Time Detectives

Let me know in the replies!

Hey, thanks for all your hard work, even if it’s under-appreciated simply because of the subject matter!

From a completionist point of view I’d love to have everything there.

I doubt I will ever listen to them - there’s so much more I’d rather listen to first, and there’s only so many hours in a day - but having them there is better than not!

I think @ItsR0b0tNinja listens to these! You can also see how many people are tracking them on the Set page - 1 member has completed them all and 13 are tracking them. So it’s not much but it’s some people!

It takes a lot to catalogue all these audios knowing few people are listening to them. I’m not familiar with BBV audios and not planing on listening to one of those recently. There’s simply too much on my plate already lol! But it feels good to know when I want to dig into that, I can get info on TG. Thank you for your work!

I definitely want to listen to Faction Paradox at some point - I can’t decide if I should just jump in or wait until I hit the appropriate spot in the EDAs. But that is very much on my radar

I’ve listened to a load that you have catalogued, and appreciate you putting them on the site.

And I’ve got these left:

I’ve skipped some, but they are mostly PROBE and the Erimim series. Some random ones that are barely DW related too.

EDIT: Also I have the Faction Paradox stuff to listen to as well.

I keep forgetting about the Romana (sorry, Mistress) ones. I do want to listen to those and the Rani one.

The title of this thread is sending me.

I really appreciate that you put the work into getting the BBV releases on the site, but I have to be honest and say only the stuff from the Wilderness Years interests me. That was a defining part of my early fandom and lots of those are very nostalgic for me. Anything more recent not only seems tenuously connected to Who but also really, really, really cheap.

The stuff listed here doesn’t even seem like it’s Doctor Who adjacent - Sherlock Holmes, Lovecraft, Dracula?

Also, it makes me question why The Pattern was excluded from the original upload - I know it was ‘original’ scifi but it seems like a glaring omission if we’re going to add all of those too.

I appreciate the site being complete, regardless of whether I’m going to complete it all. It’s helpful to know how much is out there.

I’ll add - there will be users who have not yet joined tardis.guide for whom this might be the thing that proves most compelling. “Woah - a place where I can track, rate and review BBV audios? I am amazed that exists!” Or even people who’ll learn about and discover BBV audios via this site.

This is true (although I shouldn’t think that’s a particularly large number  ).

A niche within a niche within a niche.

I also basically only care about these for completionism’s sake. I think it’s important to document and archive things. I’ve definitely learned about stories I never knew existed through this site. And who knows, maybe one day I’d want to consume every BBV thing and be glad they’re on the site for me to track.

I think it’s worth keeping them up to date on the site.
Someone’s bound to enjoy the BBV audios.

You’re right - the reason I said “some of” is because I haven’t yet tried to work out what should be excluded, as there’s grey areas, crossovers, excpetions, etc.

I didn’t mean to throw any shade  .

It does seem like BBV are throwing anything at the wall and seeing what sticks. I really wonder how well any of this stuff sells. Even the covers look amateurish and off-putting.

oh yes, a professional Doctor Who audio drama company would never throw out audios about Sherlock Holmes, Dracula, or adaptations of classic horror stories :joy:

(I was going to say I blame Mark Gatiss for this, and the more I Googled the more I realised, dude really likes Dracula)

I see what you did there. These smack of far more desperation than BF’s output though. Certainly the nonsense like BES…
