What Would Your TARDIS Exterior Look Like?

As much as I love the TARDIS exterior, it’d be conspicuous, at least in America. Part of me thinks that it’d be nice to have the chameleon circuit working.

OTOH, I’d forget where I parked it.

Maybe have it look like an out of order vending machine, or one of those Redbox kiosks, since I don’t really think people are expecting kiosks for an out of business company to be working…

I think it would be fun to have a TARDIS whose exterior is just a person (like Marie or Compassion). That way my ship would be able to join in with all adventures, and I wouldn’t have to worry about leaving her in random places! Also, communication would be a lot easier than with a police box, for example.

How does one enter a TARDIS if they’re a person?

:dalek: “Exterminate!”

“You killed my TARDIS!”

That’s why humanoid TARDISes appear in prose stories and not televised ones. It’s difficult to visualise!

I imagine they’d try to do something like The Tesselecta

I live in Scarborough, so I’d want my TARDIS exterior to look like this police box we have on the sea front:

Oh my god I haven’t seen one of those in ages

IIRC, unless they’ve removed it recently, there’s still one a few blocks from me, though I doubt it works.

A bit of an update, I’ve had to make a few modifications so that the process of applying textures to the model won’t drive me mad. Now the doors have a look more similar to the AWJ Box, I managed to finish the roof, and ended up keeping the original Brachacki lamp. I’ve also slightly stretched the corners so that they stand out a bit more, going for the boxy look that I wanted. I placed a few panels on the top signs just to have an idea of the whole colour balance and added lettering to one of them, I used the same font for the Police Box signs and the door panels, inspired by a bts photoshoot of the Series 11 Box with an alternate sign.

All of this details will have to be remade on Blender so I didn’t bother to much. Also just for fun, my design with it’s own custom Doctor for size reference!

I’d love to see an episode where they land in Scarborough and the TARDIS looks like that!
“Faulty chameleon circuit, Doctor?”
“Probably.”

I’d love to have the clock from Sarah’s attic as my exterior, or the original box that could have open windows XD I love the idea of a tree as well though, it’s a really good idea. There was that one scene in I think the time meddler, where the doctor changed the monk’s tardis into a few different shapes and one of them was a carriage - I think that would be cool as well

I think The Nun had the right idea when she made her TARDIS a book she could carry around. I’d feel anxious just leaving my TARDIS somewhere where I might lose it, and people don’t really steal books or think they’re a threat.

What if, the Tardis was a big egg

Well… there are books I’ve never gotten back from people. OTOH, I have books people never got back from me, too.

Would be hilarious. Lots of nice scenery they could use here too.

This made me think: what about a ring? You can put it on your finger, then take it off, flip it around, and go inside! Something like a locket or a pocketwatch could even work as well, I just love the visual of a person climbing into a tiny ring.

That actually reminds me how the rings works in the Sonic Movies, really interesting idea

Every time my family visit Scarborough, we all have to get a picture with the TARDIS. Tradition been going on so long I actually got a bit sick of it lol :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

I’d probably go for a vintage cola machine, if not a police-box. This one is fictional, but they roughly looked like this, just without the light at the top; so imo looks the most TARDIS-y. Plus, this one is taller than a human.
