I did end up putting Arrangements for War in the final list:
Live 34 doesn’t necessarily fit as part of the direct arc, but I would still recommend it. It’s really good. Magic Mousetrap is okay, if a bit weird and confusing. I’d say it’s more set up for the Black/White arc that comes after A Death in the Family than for Death proper.
Oh, I looooove The Magic Mousetrap. I think the characters are so fun and the plot is so creative. It is definitely weird and strange but I like that about it!
Now I’ve finished Vampire Science, which book should I do next? (although technically I’m part way though all of these, so its more like what should I finish…)
