What is your opinion on Series 14 TARDIS team (15 And Ruby)

I personally am not a fan of it cause there’s barely no conflict between them and it just feels like Ruby does whatever 15 tells her,wbu guys?

I don’t need conflict for me to think that two people work well together. They have a lot in common and are friendly with one another; that’s enough for me to give them a stamp of approval. I like seeing people in harmony.

What kind of conflict are you talking about? Like Six and Peri’s silly bickering (even though they do appreciate the other’s company) or two people who genuinely are in strife with each other?

I think they work well together, but I feel as if they separated too soon, with an episode without the Doctor in it for 90% of the runtime, and a Doctor and Companion lite episode both in the same season, a season that has fewer episodes than previously, I wish they got more time together, hopefully S2 will give them some scenes together.

While I wasn’t super enamored with the individual stories of Series 14[1], I like the dynamic between the Doctor and Ruby and wish we’d gotten more of them on screen. Only having the eight episodes, two of them Doctor-lite and one of those also being companion-lite meant that we didn’t get to know them as well as say Nine and Rose in a 13-episode season with no Doctor-lite episodes. I also think that having two Doctor-lite episodes wouldn’t have been as damaging to the season if they hadn’t been aired back to back. If we’d had Dot and Bubble earlier and had 73 Yards right before the two-part finale as a Ruby showcase, it might’ve worked better.

I’m curious if the actress had other plans and that’s why Ruby is leaving so suddenly? Granted, as a Peri fan I’m one to talk[1], but it feels like Ruby was one of those “now you see them, now you don’t” companions. She appeared, had her arc quickly wrapped up in a nice little bow, and now she’s been completely replaced.[2]

Personally I think she was always meant to leave at the end of S1, a companion a season is RTD’s MO. But I suspect she’ll play a role similar to Rose during RTD1, a companion who left but is still active and comes back from time to time.

I think so, also. The way her arc concluded was too perfect for DW.

I feel like I barely know who she is outside of the adoption aspect and how she plays piano.

I don’t like them.

They both left me quite cold. There isn’t much to them, or their dynamic, other than the energy both Gatwa and Gibson bring.

Oh I’d say it’s quite imperfect even.

Agree 100%. She has no personality. At all.

I like them but I don’t love them. They felt like they just got along immediately and the friendship didn’t feel developed, which made it harder to feel believable. And I agree about needing more conflict. Not anything big, but even just smaller things like minor disagreements like we have with other TARDIS Teams. Here they just felt like they got along a bit too much to me personally

it does seem with Belinda we will get that Tegan dynamic where she wants to go home.

I thought Fifteen and Ruby had a nice dynamic but it didn’t nearly feel developed enough. There wasn’t much depth to their relationship at all. Basically what everyone else said but I wish we’d gotten more time with them, since the season was only eight episodes with two of those being “lite” episodes to different degrees. I especially wish we’d got an earthbound episode featuring the two of them ( a la Aliens of London or The Lazarus Experiment) to really get a sense of the character and why we should care. Hopefully, even though she’s supposedly no longer a full time companion, we get to know Ruby more this upcoming season because the bones are there for a compelling character.

I don’t care for the tardis team of 15 and Ruby at all. Despite their series having already come out last year, it still feels like we’ve barely met and got to know them yet. This is likely in part because of the short length of series 14, but also their characterisation, especially Ruby’s, feels really quite basic. She just seems like RTD’s idea of a ‘generic companion’, so much so that I was genuinely expecting the finale of series 14 to reveal that she was a false creation of some reality-bending antagonist, designed to fit the ideal of a companion, but lacking any real personality (a bit like Sam being altered into a perfect companion, but not exactly). Also both of them felt too cheerful and friendly with each other and just not quite real. It was sort of like their relationship was there to fulfil a formula – like 15 remembered he was the Doctor and usually travels with companions, and so had to quickly invite the first human he had an adventure with to travel with him. They kept saying how they care about each other but it was never actually shown.

I love their dynamic!

I’ve experienced every 15 and Ruby story so far, and they’ve all been really fun because the characters just work really well together

I think the Two are a great pairing, the Series just felt designated too much like previous RTD Series. I wish they didn’t bond immediately, it almost feels like we skipped 3 Episodes of Character Chemistry.

I enjoy the Approach. I think Ncuti and especially Millie (who I think is getting way too much underappreciated) are great and have a fun Chemistry. I just wish we could have seen this Chemistry forming with more Time or at least for their Series to be more designated so they don’t become “Bestie” too quickly.
Honestly, I don’t think Conflict was needed, just a bit more teeth to them. Like, despite it being said, I don’t feel like we get shown why they care for each other. Which at the end of the day makes me just don’t care much for this TARDIS Team, despite enjoying them (mainly due to their Actors).

I think they have great chemistry and are a fantastic pair, lots of fun.

I understand the feeling that they didn’t “earn” their affection for each other due to the compressed runtime. But there’s always the expanded media to fill in the gaps.

And I can believe they became fast friends. They give off “people who met at a gig and became instant besties” vibes to me.

I also really like their dynamic. They feel like they just hit it off directly, and even if they don’t hang out that much, I do feel like their friendship is earned. I am excited for Bellinda, but if I could choose, I would take another season with Ruby. I think she is great.

I have no issue with the speed of their friendship - that’s obviously a symptom of being characters in a fast-paced adventure series. But also we know there are adventures in between that we don’t see so it’s easy enough to head canon it.

I really enjoyed their dynamic and Ruby is a fun companion.
