I agree! I’ve never been interested in the “mystery boxes” because they’ve never been true mysteries – just things that recur across a season that end in an arbitrary reveal in the finale. They’re not engaging because there’s nothing to engage with.
The closest I’ve come to liking one was in series 5, because the cracks in time actively influence the plot throughout the series, but even then I don’t love that style of series arc.
You mention the Vault – I also think series 10 would have been even more interesting if we had known Missy was in the Vault the whole time! Then the tension becomes not what is in the Vault (I don’t care) but why – plus the added tension that comes of having a super dangerous character so close at hand.
Fully agreed. I do think I would have preferred that more, but then again I am just happy we dropped the Act of who is in the Vault quickly rather than have it drag on and on. I do think you could have done it like you described, that sounds like a great Idea!
I’m glad our opinions can differ! I personally love a story just built through conversation and social stakes, but I 100% see why someone wouldn’t! I was surprised seeing your review cause I usually agree with most of your takes!
Oh I remember the one I wanted to post yesterday but forgot about! I love the Paradigm Daleks designs for the most part! I think the colour coding is great. The real issue was with the texture: they looked like plastic not metal. Something Asylum of the Daleks fixed but it was too little too late.
I actively prefer their design over the bronze ones tbh, as long as they have a metallic sheen
I have quite a few issues with Victory Of The Daleks… but the Paradigm Daleks aren’t really one of the major ones. It’s more a retroactive thing, since the show did basically nothing with them afterwards.
