I don’t think that’s that controversial
A lot of things in this thread aren’t.
IIRC, I’ve only seen that season once, it was a while back, and it was binged in a day. I was probably still going “wifi doesn’t work like that” for most of 7b…
Tbf, I am hardly 7b’s strongest soldier - it did feel, in many ways, like Moffat and the show itself coasting, but most of it was still good-to-decent Doctor Who - sort of like Baker’s later seasons, from what I’ve heard. That said, it has its banger moments too - the Akhaten speech is godly, Cold War is underrated, etc. And if we lump in Day and Time, it gets even better imo
I love the speech, and don’t mind that it doesn’t save the day because it gives the new companion a moment where she saves the day - a trope that I love!
I was thinking about it, and it occurred to me that this music video has a lot of the energy I like to see in Doctor Who…
They should re-create that video with Ncuti and David Tennant.
Series two is Tennant’s worst season and is entirely let down by tenrose. Nine and Rose’s dynamic worked so well, and she was a great companion in series one but in series two i just find her annoying. I HATE series two rose with a passion. I love ten so much, and there are good episodes in series two but his constant obsession with rose gets on my nerves. (yes I still find doomsday sad David is crying and im only human)
Can I ask what changed about Rose to make you hate her? I can think of one scene I really did hate her in, but the writer of the episode has a track record of making mid-tier episodes and questionable decisions, IIRC - and so I read it as more of a mistake of the writer than a bad character.
Let me guess, Mark Gattis, Idiot’s Lantern?
I’m apparently being controversial then when I say that I enjoy most of Mark Gatiss’ work in the Whoniverse…
Yeah, I don’t quite get the attitude towards his work. His first novel, Nightshade, is excellent and on TV his stuff is middle of the road, enjoyable Who with the exception of Sleep No More (which I found boring) and The Crimson Horror (which is excellent). His BF stuff is pretty good too (Invaders from Mars isn’t as bad as people make out - it’s just next door to Chimes so will always pale in comparison.)
And An Adventure in Space and Time for Kronos’s sake!
And the small but utterly brilliant Mockumentary Global Conspiracy.
He loves this show so much he somehow convinced Steven Moffat to make him a Lethbridge-Stewart!
And he’s one quarter of The League of Gentlemen - that said, I think he’s the one whose acting I like the least out of him, Pemberton and Shearsmith.
I’m afraid that that never made it to the other side of the North Sea (well Western Sea from where I am)…
Me too
Post must be at least twelve characters.
Im not too sure actually, I think she just for me becomes over obsessed/reliant on the doctor instead of being her own character? I dont think its particularly rose changing alot that makes me not like her its her dynamic with the doctor that shifts making me despise when they’re on screen together
The current Tardis exterior prop, as debuted in The Ghost Monument, is dark green and not blue. Ever since 2018, every time a character has called the Tardis some variant of “a blue box”, it’s felt like something the writer said out of habit, relying on what the lore and fandom expects them to say, rather than a character attempting to accurately describe something they can see with their eyes
It still looks blue to me.
It might have a slight greenish tinge in certain lighting, but that still looks very much like a Blue Box™ to me
