Blimey. When you see them all listed like that, it’s all a bit middle of the road. Went for The Crimson 'Orror.

None of them it’s between Crimson Horror and Sherwood for me, I think! I enjoy Empress too, actually.

An Adventure in Space and Time. What a Film. I know this isn’t listed here, but my God it just is his best TV Doctor Who Outing.

If I had to choose one from the List, I think I will go with Robot of Sherwood. I like it, it’s solid.
Similarly, I enjoy Empress of Mars and Cold War. Really don’t like The Idiots Lantern from all the ones listed here.

For me it’s a toss us between Cold War and Sleep No More. I have absolutely zero love for Robin Hood so Robot of Sherwood does nothing for me.

Unquiet Dead. It was between that, Sleep No More, and Victory of the Daleks.

I’ve found myself appreciating Unquiet Dead a fair amount these days, so I went with that one…

I went with The Crimson Horror. I know a lot of people aren’t big on it and the episode does have its flaws but I always enjoy watching it.

Hot take incoming, but I went with The Idiot’s Lantern. Yes, it has that ending, but Gatiss has said that he based it on his own relationship with his father… which, for me, adds its own tragic dimension to that ending. Honestly, with better direction, I still think it could have worked in a morbid, League Of Gentlemen-esque way. I don’t agree with the sentiment, but I understand where it comes from.

I also just like what it has to say about television as a tool that can assimilate identity if it operates with the assumption that there is only one type of audience for it. Considering how openly Queer the show has been historically and especially during the revived era, there’s an air of reclamation to it that is both fascinating to me as someone who really likes when the show gets into that kind of messaging (i.e. The Happiness Patrol), and a bit odd in conjunction with the aforementioned ā€œbut you can fix himā€ ending.

Basically, it’s not the best (in terms of structure, I’d honestly give that to Night Terrors), but it’s the one that feels like the most personal statement from Mark Gatiss. I’m a bit of an auteurist, so I just find that interesting.

I think Crimson Horror is his best story too.

No PROBE? Blasphemy!!

Crimson Horror is an episode I love a lot, but hate a certain scene..

CH is a close second for me. The rest range from OK to forgettable.

Which scene is that (and why do Gatiss stories always seem to have a ā€˜certain scene’?)

Admittedly I’ve not seen Crimson Horror since it aired but I remember finding it pretty mid at the time. So for me it’s between Unquiet Dead and Empress of Mars, and not even a contest with the rest (which I either haven’t seen in ages for CH, don’t really care for for most, or just really dislike for SNM). My vote went Empress of Mars because I quite enjoyed it when I rewatched it last year

11 kissing Jenny and also the weird sonic erection moment just prior, abysmal.

The Abysmal Horror…

I found the first half very interesting, a Doctor lite episode where we get to spend more time with the Paternoster Gang. Unfortunately, I found the rest of the episode somewhat forgettable aside from a few jokes.

I actually liked the sonic scene :sob:, but then again my humor is very juvenile so what do I know . The kissing scene is pretty cringe though; Doctor that is a married woman!
