My avatar is of my favorite video game character Haseo from .Hack//GU. It was a PS2 game that had 3 different volumes called Rebirth, Reminisce, and Redemption. It has now been remastered for current hardware and includes a new 4th volume called Reconnection. The game simulates an MMORPG where the game is a character playing an MMO and trying to solve the mystery of the game which is people falling into coma’s after being killed in game by a specific player killer. The main character is Haseo who starts out as very rude and mean, but grows into a fantastic person. It even has a simulated desktop, forum(with replies), emails, party members, and simulated players, etc.
The franchise is pretty cool, but is niche. The game has a prequel anime with 26 episodes called .Hack//Roots. There were 4 games before this though that have a loose connection involving a previous version of the game. Those games are .Hack//Infection, Mutation, Outbreak, and Quarantine. Unfortunately they haven’t been remastered, but the G.U. remaster has a summary of events included with scenes. The original games had a prequel anime as well called .Hack//Sign it’s very psychological and slow paced but very good. That anime is about a person put into a coma and is trapped in the game character they play with no memory and the characters they meet trying to solve the mystery of why that person can’t log out and what caused it.
The original 4 games even included a DVD OVA with each entry of people in the real world trying to solve it as well. It was ahead of its time.
The games have a special place in my heart because I grew up with them and my Grandfather would take me to pick up each game when it released so I could eventually solve the mystery. In fact the last game he ever bought me was the last G.U. game. I love Haseo as a character so decided to use him as my avatar.

Yep, as I mentioned before, I’ve got some of those.
I actually went through my entire ps2 collection of discs at some point and copied them to isos, as it’s a lot easier to run them in emulation, though I still have the ps2 and discs around if I felt like hooking it up…
(In fact, at some point, I picked up a number of ps2 games from a $5 and under bin and just grabbed anything that looked vaguely interesting…)

Not to bring down the mood but my avatar is my cat Lottie who was murdered in 2023 lol.
I wear a ring with her name inscribed on it too. She was only a year old but she was the most intelligent cat I’ve ever owned. And it was like we could speak in a secret language together. But I’ve always preferred cats over humans.
And after her death a very weird sequence of real-world events and dreams happened which turned me from agnostic to spiritual, and more open to religious beliefs on the afterlife than I was. And now I’m more hopeful about what lies beyond, and I can sleep at night without fearing mortality. Which is nice =)

It actually throws me back a bit because if I go to the Doctor Who tier lists I used to make it’s still linked to this pic because that’s the one I was using in my linked twitter account. Which doesn’t exist anymore because I deleted it thanks to Quico da Tesla.
